I’ve been meeting up with friends I’ve made from the Internet since I was 16-years-old. In fact, one of my close friends and I always say this when we hang out with her group of friends or mine: “We met on the internet through a Harry Potter role-playing game!” Now, for most people this is probably odd, weird and maybe even embarrassing. But I’m at a point now where I don’t really see much of a point in hiding that part of my life. I know so many online friends through random fandoms and mutual internet friends.
But I know some of you are thinking “OMG no way” at the very thought of divulging that much about your online life to people who won’t really appreciate or understand where you’re coming from.
So here are 7 tips I have up my sleeve for explaining your internet friends to your IRL friends. Trust me, that day is going to come eventually and you want to avoid as much awkwardness as possible.
Have you ever met up with a friend from the internet in real life? What was it like? Positive or negative? Tell us in the comments!
