Have you ever fallen so in love with a fictional pair of best friends that you have spent time actually wishing you could be their best friend? I have. Does that sound pathetic? Sorry, I just get really involved in TV shows, and I always end up wanting to be a part of them, or at least wanting to know the characters in real life.
Anyway, fictional friendships are usually perfect. The pair of best friends just get each other. If they disagree or fight, they apologize, talk about it, and get over it. They can talk about anything. They can just walk into each other’s houses like it’s no big deal. They do the TV phone conversation thing where they don’t have to say hello or goodbye. It’s great. And when I think about the best TV show friendships, mainly old shows come to mind. Here are 15 fictional best friends from old TV shows who we want to be BFF’s with:
1. Lizzie and Miranda from Lizzie McGuire
Sure, Lizzie, Miranda, and Gordo were a trio, but we all know the real stars of the friendship were Lizzie and Miranda. They were always there for each other, and they complemented each other. And look at those hairstyles!
2. Cory and Shawn from Boy Meets World
Um, did Cory and Shawn not have the cutest bromance ever? They did, no question. These two were there for each other through thick and thin, for basically their entire lives. I have never had a friend for that long, and that makes me so sad. Can I jump in on what’s going on with these two?
3. Rory and Lorelai from Gilmore Girls
This is the mother/daughter relationship that every woman really wants… but almost no one has, because no people on this earth are as cool as Lorelai and Rory. I would pay a million dollars to magically appear in their world and be their third BFF.
4. Ryan and Seth from The O.C.
The only bromance that could give Cory and Shawn a run for their money is Seth and Ryan, in my opinion. This unlikely pair is so cute together I can’t even stand it.
5. Jane and Daria from Daria
If I got to be best friends with two of the coolest female cartoon characters ever, well… that would be amazing. Think of all the pizza!
6. The entire Friends cast
I WOULD pick a smaller group out of these 7, but that would be impossible. Who in this world has not wished for a group of friends just like this one? They’re perfect!
7. Lisa, Jessie, and Kelly from Saved By The Bell
Normally, a group of three girls is a pretty bad number – someone is always leaving someone else out. But this group? Basically perfect.
8. Will and Carlton from The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air
This seems like the most fun friendship ever. Imagine how many dance parties you could have if you were their third BFF! SO MANY.
9. Kimmy and D.J. from Full House
These two were so cute, and such a great example of best friends. Even though they had a lot of differences, they just went well together. And they always watched out for each other. Yup, I want in.
10. Lucy and Ethel from I Love Lucy
I mean, you can’t talk about great TV show friendships without including Lucy and Ethel. You just can’t! They are classics, and I really want to go back in time and be BFF’s with them.
11. Clarissa and Sam from Clarissa Explains It All
This friendship made ME want to have a friend who could just casually climb through my bedroom window whenever he wanted to to hang out. How amazing would that be? Sam just seemed like the perfect dude BFF.
12. Doug and Skeeter from Doug
As far as cartoon bromances go, this one was one of the best. I really want to be best friends with Doug and Skeeter mainly because I really want to geek out about The Beets with them.
13. Kenan and Kel from Kenan & Kel
I mean, do I really need to explain why? Aside from Carlton and Will, these two seem like the most fun best friends ever. And they have their own bit! And it’s about orange soda! How can you top that?
14. Raven and Chelsea from That’s So Raven
The best BFF’s are the ones who are just as crazy and weird as you are – like Raven and Chelsea. From their insane outfits to the ridiculous things they do together, these two were basically made for each other. And I was made to be included.
15. Arnold and Gerald from Hey Arnold!
Um, is a cool handshake a good enough reason to want to be best friends with someone? I hope so.
Which of these best friends is your favorite pair? Who do you dislike? Which old fictional BFF’s did I forget about? Tell me in the comments!
