Maleficent is by far my favorite Disney villain. She’s powerful, independent and has a rad look. I know she’s evil, but there’s a lot more to the story than you think so it’s really not her fault. The new live action Maleficent starting Angelina Jolie is coming out in May, and we’ve been lucky enough to sneak some peeks at her makeup. It’s insane.
MAC is coming out with a collection so you can get the look at home, but luckily I’m here to bring the look to you now. This is definitely not a regular daytime look so save this one for days when you’re feeling extra bold or for special occasions. Let’s get evil, shall we?
Part Your Hair In The Middle
I'm working with dirty, curled hair here. You can do this look with straight, curly or wavy hair. Part it down the middle to start.
Twist Section In The Front
Maleficent has horns. We do not. So we're going to fake them with our hair but in a cute way. Twist your hair in the front backward, staying above your ear.
Pin In Place
Hide those bobby pins by pinning into the twist with the open side facing your hairline.
Now you have some faux horns that you can actually wear in public!
You Need: Blush, Bronzer, Red Lipstick
I'm using this little duo from e.l.f. and a red lipstick called "Amplified Heartless" from MAC's Venomous Villains collection.
You Need: Black, White, Purple Shadows, Black Liner, Mascara
I used Strange and Blackheart from my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and a purple from my NYX shadow box. Again, I'm using my trusty Maybelline Master Precise and Neutrogena mascara.
Prime And Apply Base Shadow
Apply your white or light shadow to your whole lid.
Apply Purple To Your Crease
Lightly add purple shadow to your crease and a little up into your brow bone.
Apply Black Shadow To Outer Corner
Apply this in a triangular shape pointing outward toward your brow. Blend it into the purple you just applied on your crease.
Fill In Under Your Lashes
Toward your inner corner, apply purple just under your lashes. Do the same with black on the outer corner.
Apply Dramatic Cat Eye
Maleficent's cat eye is strong so make sure you pull it out further than you normally would on the outside. It's okay to be a bit heavy-handed here.
Line Waterline And Apply Mascara
To make this look even more dramatic, fill in your waterline with black liner. Then apply your mascara.
Contour For Extra Oomph
This is optional, but I was having fun. Apply bronzer just under your cheekbones to make them pop like Maleficent's.
Then apply a bit of pink blush just on the apples of your cheeks. Even Maleficent blushes!
Apply Lipstick & You're Done
Apply your fave shade of red, and you're all set! Practice your smizing and maniacal laughter.
