10 Hacks and Tips On How To Curl Your Hair Without A Wand Or Iron

Honestly, I don’t know where I would be with my curling wand (I use this Nume one – it’s amazing). I have naturally wavy hair, and my curling wand always gives me perfect curls. But even though I sing the praises of this wand to anyone who will listen, I have to admit that it takes up a decent amount of my time when I’m getting ready in the morning. It’s really easy to use, but I have a lot of hair, so it takes a while to get the job done.

If you feel the same way, or if you just don’t know how to use a curling wand or iron, don’t worry – thanks to Pinterest, there are plenty of ways to curl your hair without using a hot tool. These techniques will generally work better with hair that has a little bit of a natural wave to it, but some of them will also work with straight hair. Want curly hair overnight with minimal effort? Try these 10 hacks and tips on how to curl your hair without a wand or iron:

Try SoCal Curls for perfect headband curls.

I recently got a SoCal Curl headband, and I’m officially obsessed with it. You pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds, then wrap slightly damp hair around it (I let mine air-dry for about a half hour first, if your hair is too wet, you can ruin the tie), sleep on it, and wake up with curly hair! You don’t even have to do it overnight – it can also work in as little as 30 minutes. It’s so easy, fast, and actually works – our intern Ashley even told me I had mermaid hair today. You can buy these and get more info on them here.

Twist your hair into sections for easy curls or waves.

I Get my hair wet and then French braid it and then in the morning I take it out and it works wonderfully

  • I’ve used the sock bun for a long time and really liked the curls I got from it. What I didn’t like about it was how it looked like in my hair, I was always thinking it would be nice to have different designs to match to my outfit. This is why I developed a different version of the sock bun and built a startup around it. You can check out my first collection with the link below; I would love to hear your feedback! <3

my hair is very thick… i tried some of these but it only lasts for about 30 minutes and then its straight again… have any tricks?? even with curling wands the result are the same…

If your hair is really thick and has trouble holding a curl, I would use a heat method instead. While it’s wrapped around the iron, spray it with hair spray. Once you remove the iron, let the curl sit and cool before you touch it, and spray with hairspray again. A good hold hairspray should help.

Guys how can I have a non overnight non heat curls like Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens in HSM) like in 10 mintues but you dont have to sleep in the bed with that hairdo….and dont need hairspary!!!! ……Its for my prom!!!!! MAKE THIS MY BEST YEAR PLEASE!!!!

  • Love those ideas! One important trick about curls that I learned is that you have to secure hair in a high ponytail first, and only after that start creating curls. In that way, you will never miss a piece of hair and add extra volume to the roots of your hair.
