I’m basically obsessed with Pretty Little Liars even though they are refusing to give us any answers on the show. I love all the liars, but Spencer Hastings is by far my favorite. And that means Troian Bellisario is my favorite too. She also looks exactly like one of my best friends so I’m compelled to love her.
Troian is, in my opinion, one of the coolest actresses around and is so real. We even got to chat with her about the best advice she’s ever gotten! I can’t wait to see her in more projects. Check out these 10 facts you probably didn’t know about her:
She's A Lot Like Spencer & Was Valedictiorain
Troian has said in numerous interviews that she relates to Spencer's studious ways because she was the same in school. She felt a lot of pressure to be the best in school: "I was the valedictorian of my class and my academics meant everything to me. My family put a lot of pressure on me to do well, but it was also mostly coming from myself. I felt that I had to be the best and the brightest at everything, otherwise I wasn't worth anything."
She Has A Lot Of Nicknames
You can probably imagine that with a hard-to-pronounce name, Troian gained a lot of nicknames. She revealed, "People call me T, one of my friends calls me T-Rizzle. Anything with a T. T-Bones, T-Bird, T-Rex."
She's Newly Engaged
You'd probably be surprised to know that Troian is one of the oldest members of the Pretty Little Liars cast at 28. She's been dating Suits star Patrick J. Adams since 2009, and the couple recently got engaged.
She Was In Billboard Dad
Troian was neighbors with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. She snagged a part in Billboard Dad with the twins in 1998. I highly suggest you enjoy this amazing clip.
She's Italian And African-American
I knew Troian was Italian just from her name alone, but I was fascinated by the rest of her ancestry. Her father, Donald P. Bellisario, is Italian and Serbian, and her mother, Deborah Pratt, is African-American (and English AND French!).
She Started Acting At Age Three
Troian's father, Donald P. Bellisario, is a famous producer who created shows like NCIS and Quantum Leap. In 1988, he wrote and directed a film called Last Rites, casting Troian as "Nuzo's daughter."
She's Battled An Eating Disorder And Self-Harm
Troian revealed to Seventeen Magazine that she used to struggle with eating disorders and self-harm. She said, "I think there's this insane amount of pressure to perform and sometimes when you have an eating disorder, that gets wrapped up in punishment and restriction with food."
She Wanted To Be A Forensic Scientist
Troian wanted to work with the dead when she was a kid! "When I was younger, I was fascinated by forensic scientists and morticians. I was drawn to work with the dead in some sense, so maybe I'll go back to that."
She Wrote And Produced A Film
Looks like Troian caught her parents' producing bug because she wrote, produced and acted in her first short film called "Exiles." Oh and Shane Coffey, who plays Holden on PLL, is in it too!
She's The Second Youngest Of Nine Children
That's a lot of siblings! She has a younger brother, three half-sisters, two half-brothers and a step-brother.
