Much like the rest of the world, I’m obsessed with Benedict Cumberbatch. I’ve gotten in arguments in this office over it because I’m constantly defending how great he is. I think he’s a total babe, which some people refuse to acknowledge. Aside from my physical attraction to him, I’m also in love with his talent. He’s an amazing actor and overall amazing person.
I could go on all day about him, and if you’re not watching Sherlock I really need you do so immediately. He’s just the best thing since sliced bread. Anyway, I’m sure you know that he’s BFFs with Martin Freeman (Dr. Watson) and that he was in Star Trek Into Darkness and all that jazz. But you probably didn’t know these 10 facts:
He's Been Cyber-Stalked
It's like a real-life "A" situation. Celebs get a lot of tweets, but he said someone was live-tweeting his actions inside his house! "I would say that it was the strangest fan experience that I’ve ever had. I had someone live tweeting my movements while I was in my own house. It was such a strange and a direct thing to see these tweets saying what I was doing as I was doing them. I found it really worrying, and, yes, of course, very hard to deal with. I worked out after a while who it was who was doing it so, when it came to it, I didn’t actually call in the police, but I was prepared to do so." So scary!
He's Also Been Kidnapped!
While filming the mini-series To The Ends Of The Earth in South Africa, he and two others were kidnapped. And guess what? He argued his way out of the situation! According to The Telegraph, "But I argued my way out. I said: 'If you leave me in here, it's not the lack of air, it's the small space. There's a problem with my heart and my brain.' I just tried to explain to them: 'I will die, possibly have a fit, and it will be a problem for you. I will be a dead Englishman in your car. Not good.'"
He Loves Art And Donated Self-Portraits To Charity
Apparently he's got a knack for drawing and has been known to donate his work to raise money for charities. He donated a self-portrait to an auction for The New End Primary School.
He'd Switch Places With Elvis If He Could
When asked what person, dead or alive, he'd like to swap places with he said, "It's got to be Elvis, the post-war phenomena at the Star Dust in Vegas. Or someone like that." Rad!
If He Didn't Act, He'd Be A Neurosurgeon
Cumberbatch told What's On Stage, "I'd have liked to have been a neurosurgeon – I'm thinking that because of the character in Saturday. It would have been nice to have done something useful, responsible, that required a mind-blowing skill, where something really important hangs in the balance."
He Has His Own Production Company
He recently started a production company according to this interview with Collider. He said Brad Pitt and George Clooney can do it, and he can too. Raise your hand if you're looking forward to a Benedict-produced film!
He Does The Best Impression Of Alan Rickman
He Loves John Hughes Movies
He revealed his favorite movies to Reddit, "Ghostbusters. Loads of John Hughes classics. Annie Hall. annnnnd 2001 Space Odyssey!!" Seriously, can you imagine having a John Hughes marathon with him? That would be the best.
He Fangirls Just As Much As You Do
He gets nervous around other famous people, "Every time I’ve met someone famous who I’ve been in the audience of, I have the same butterflies and inability to be cool. I approach them as a fellow member of the human race as the next person in their audience does."
His Favorite Part About Himself Is His Eyes
During his Reddit AMA, someone asked what his favorite part of himself was: "I guess as an actor your eyes are vital in conveying any internal thought process or feeling, and for that I have my mum to thank." We could stare into those eyes all day! BRB, busy swooning.
Did you know any of the above? Do you love Benedict Cumberbatch as much as I do? Tell us in the comments!
