Princess Belle was always my favorite Disney Princess because I thought I looked the most like her. I also loved to read and was a little off the wall so I really related to her. Even though Beauty and the Beast has some issues, it is still my favorite Disney movie and Belle is still my favorite Princess.
She’s got some fierce looks throughout the film from her cute French countryside ponytail to her winter wonderland cape. Oh, and obviously, the yellow ballgown. That look was amazing. But you don’t have to go to a fancy dinner with a beast to rock that look. Today I’m going to show you how to get Belle’s hair and makeup from that famous scene!
You Need: A Variety Of Brushes
I'm using the small one for my outer corner, the middle one for my inner corner and the big one to blend.
You Need: Dark & Light Brown Shadows
Belle keeps it neutral!
You Need: Black Eyeliner
Stickin' with my trusty Maybelline Master Precise.
You Need: White Eyeliner
To get those big, animated eyes.
You Need: Mascara
And lots of it! This is volumizing mascara from Mally, which I totally love.
You Need: Pink Blush
Belle doesn't wear a lot of blush, but make sure it's a pink or coral.
You Need: Pink Lipstick
In the classic ballroom scene, Belle is rocking a cute pink lip. I'm using this lip pencil by LAQA & Co called Lambchop. It's super pink and last a while so it's perfect for this look!
You Need: Bobby Pins & A Teasing Comb
Lots of bobby pins. We're not teasing a ton, but a teasing comb is necessary.
You Need: A Ribbon
I unfortunately didn't have any yellow or gold ribbon, but I'm using this white satin ribbon instead. Use what you've got!
Do Your Face Makeup & Curl Hair
Do your foundation/concealer/powder/whatever face routine you have. Curl your hair with a large curling iron to get big, loose curls.
Apply Dark Brown To Your Outer Corner
Using an angled or small shadow brush, apply a dark brown shadow to the outer corner of your eye.
Apply Light Brown To Your Inner Third
Take a light brown or a shimmery neutral (whatever you like!) and apply with a mid-sized brush to the inner third of your lid. Blend it into the dark brown.
Apply White Liner To Your Lower Water Line
Belle, and every other Disney Princess, has massive eyes. You probably don't have eyes the size of dinner plates so we'll fake it. Apply white eyeliner to your lower water line. This will open your eyes up and make them look larger.
Apply Black Eye Liner
Belle's liner is a baby cat eye so don't go too wild. You don't even have to extend a wing out past the corner of your eye, just make it a little thicker toward the end.
Belle's lashes are much fuller on the outer corner so focus on putting a few coats there instead of all over.
Like I said before, Belle doesn't wear a ton of blush. Lightly apply some to the apples of your cheeks and gently sweep out toward your ear.
Apply a coat or two of lipstick and then blot onto a tissue. Belle's not a glossy kind of girl!
Separate Your Hair
Clip the front of your hair out of the way. Then take hair from either side and pull it into a ponytail behind this section.
Split Your Ponytail And Pull It In On Itself
Create a hole in your ponytail like so. Then flip your tail UNDER and pull it up through the hole.
It Should Create A Bump
Doing that little move will create a little bump like this.
Twist The Front
Unclip the front section. Part it down the middle and twist moving backward. Pin under the ponytail in the back.
Now you've got that poofy twist thing that Belle has going on.
Tease The Ponytail
Belle's hair isn't quite a bun. It's like a bun half-pulled through a hair tie. Tease right under where it created that bump to add volume. Then pinch it into a bun form and pin it in the back.
Add Ribbon And You're Done
Tie a ribbon around the top, wear something yellow and carry a book with you. Just for safety reasons, I'd generally avoid beasts.
