As an admitted beauty junkie, I have – as you would imagine – a ridiculous amount of makeup. I’ve got more eye shadow than I can count, tons of makeup palettes, a crazy amount of lip gloss and what feels like millions of different eyeliners. I also have random things, like highlighter sheets, fake eyelashes, glitter and, of course, a bunch of makeup brushes. I love all of my makeup, but the question is always: how do I organize it?!
Organizing your makeup is super, super important, especially if you have a lot of products. If you don’t organize it, you end up with a jumble of beauty products stacked on top of each other in a drawer, spilling all over the place and getting easily lost. Plus, organized makeup on a desk or vanity can look really pretty, if you do it the right way! Sure, you could spend lots of money over at The Container Store on the same plastic organization units everyone else has… or you could figure out some unexpected options on your own to make your makeup area more unique.
You’d rather do that second option, right? That’s what I thought. Here are 10 unexpected, but easy and cute tips on how to organize your makeup, thank to Pinterest.
Use Bowls and Glasses As StorageI think this is so pretty. You can repurpose super pretty glasses or decorative bowls to hold your makeup. If you're feeling artsy, you can buy cheap glasses at the dollar store and paint and decorate them yourself. This is a really unique and fun way to hold your makeup. Source: Pinterest
Put Makeup On Pretty Cake StandsIf you have enough room for one of these on your vanity, definitely try this! There are lots of really pretty cake stands you can get from places like Home Goods that are perfect for holding makeup, lotion, jewelry, nail polish or hair ties. Source: MakeupSavvy.com
Combine A Vase and Coffee BeansA small, pretty vase is a great place to store makeup brushes, eyeliner or mascara. You can get really cheap ones in dollar stores or places like Home Goods. If you're a total coffee addict, fill them with coffee beans - they smell good and will hold your stuff in place. Source: Pinterest
Use A Wall Jewelry Holder To Save SpaceIf you're short on space and don't have a vanity or desk for your makeup, store it in your closet or on the wall using a wall jewelry holder. You can multiple things in each pouch if you have a bunch of products. This will save you a lot of space and is super convenient. Source: Pinterest
Use Mirror Trays For PerfumeLove this idea - in fact, I'm going to spend my weekend searching for a mirror tray just so I can do this. Buy yourself a cute mirror tray to hold your perfume bottles if you have a few. Perfume bottles are SO pretty, but they can easily look cluttered on your desk. This is an easy and pretty way to make them look a little more organized. Source: MakeupSavvy.com
Put Stones In Vases Or Candle HoldersUse a cheap vase or cleaned out old candle holders and fill them with pretty stones or gems to hold your brushes. You can also get stickers so you know exactly which brushes are for what. This is a good alternative if you're not into the coffee bean idea. Source: Pinterest
Use A Letter or Magazine Rack To Hold PalettesI'm obsessed with makeup palettes, but even with all of my organizers, I have nowhere to fit them, so they just end up on top of my vanity taking up precious space. I'm also going to spend my weekend searching for a pretty magazine or letter rack, because this is a great idea. They'll hold your palettes in a chic, easy way. Perfect! Source: DaintyDollyMix.com
Make A Makeup Magnet BoardAnother way to save a ton of space and declutter your desk is to make a magnet board for your makeup. This works great if you don't have many products... or you can just use it for the products you use the most. Just buy a magnetic board, then buy little magnets to put on the back of your makeup so they stick on there. You can make this pretty by adding a frame or stickers if you want. Source: Pinterest
Decorate Mason Jars To Hold BrushesMason jars are all over the place right now, so why not use them to organize your makeup? You can leave them plain or decorate them with paint and/or ribbons. You can use large ones, but I've also seen smaller ones at Target that could work for a variety of different products. Source: BeautyLish.com
Buy Cheap Plastic Bins For DrawersInstead of buying a more expensive drawer organizer, make your own by buying cheap plastic ones from the dollar store and setting them up in your drawer like so. Stashing your makeup in a drawer instead of on top of a desk or vanity leaves you with a lot more space. Source: Pinterest
