You’ve taken your finals and now you’re on winter break, huzzah! (Apologies to those who are still currently taking finals, you’re almost done!) Winter break is awesome because you know that Christmas is within your reach, and you get all of this time to just do nothing.
Except, you shouldn’t do nothing. You should do ALL the things! There’s so much room for activities, and you don’t want to go back to school in 2014 to tell your friends that the only thing you did over break was sit in front of the fire with your cat (not that there’s anything wrong with that!). You just have so much time to do so many awesome things so hop to it!
Complete Your 2013 To-Do List
There are so many things that you should do before the year is over from hanging out with that friend you've been meaning to see to watching some stellar TV shows. Use winter break to knock these things off your 2013 to-do list.
Redo Your Room
Now that you have some free time on your hands, why not redo your room? You can paint it or rearrange your furniture. A fresh new look in your space will get you ready for the new year.
You can craft anything you want! Make some presents for your friends (or yourself!) or make some wall art for your room. You'll be amazed at how much you can do if you spend your whole break DIYing!
Make Resolutions You're Going To Keep
How many times have you made resolutions and given up on them by January 10th? Making resolutions is a great idea if you're actually going to keep said resolutions. Instead of making gigantic ones that are just really impractical, try making resolutions you're actually going to keep like keeping your clothes off your floor.
Get Rid Of Clothes You Don't Wear
If you're not going to upcycle your clothes then it's time to get rid of stuff you're not wearing. My rule is if you haven't worn it in a year, it's gotta go. Go through your closet and separate items by what you can donate and what should be trashed. Most things that are in good condition can be donated, so I highly suggest doing that!
Plan A Spring Break Or Summer Trip
Planning trips take a lot of time so get a head start now! If you and your friends have discussed doing a trip for spring break or over the summer, get together over winter break and hammer out some details. If you plan it now, it also gives you time to work out the budget and allows you more time to save up!
Make An Inspiration Board
This was always one of my favorite winter break activities, and it's something I do now on a seasonal basis. Allot yourself some space on a wall or get a literal display board to pin up pictures and magazine clippings that inspire you. It's really great to have visual representation of things that inspire you right in front of your face all the time. Try it!
I know you spend a lot of time reading during the year for school, but now is the perfect time to read those books you want to read. Get your bookworm on.
