Tomorrow is Miley Cyrus’s 21st birthday (perhaps you’ve heard of her?), which got me thinking: lately, there are few things that make people as angry as when I tell them that I love Miley Cyrus. I get a lot of reactions like, “WTF is wrong with you?” or “Are you kidding me? How?” or “She’s so stupid and not talented, why would you like her?” Well, there are a lot of reasons why I’ve always been a huge fan of Miley, but we’ll get into those in a minute.
Listen, I know that Miley Cyrus has been acting kind of crazy lately. I won’t deny that she has done some pretty stupid stuff – but I’m also not going to judge her for that stuff because, one, I don’t personally know Miley and two, she’s 21-years-old, guys. She’s learning, she’s figuring stuff out and she’s making mistakes along the way, JUST LIKE ALL OF US. Do I think she needs to tone it down a little? No, not really. A lot of people shame Miley for being “too naked,” for wearing stuff they think is ugly, for sticking her tongue out and for basically anything else she does, ever. I think it’s kind of ridiculous. Miley can do whatever she wants with her life and you don’t have to like it – but you also don’t have to rip the girl apart for it. The same people who constantly complain about Miley being famous are usually the same people who can’t stop talking about how “stupid” she is.
I’m not saying you have to love Miley Cyrus or that my opinion is the only opinion. I just think that, as much stupid stuff as the girl does, she also does and says some stuff that’s actually really cool. Here are 21 reasons why I love Miley for her 21st birthday.
She has always been a huge LGBT supporter, which is really cool in my book. She even got a tattoo of an equal sign to symbolize her support for same-sex marriage.
She’s always herself, even when everyone is making fun of her for it. In a world where celebrities act very fake, it’s nice to see someone who acts real.
She might dress horribly sometimes (she’s had some pretty weird outfits), but she also knows how to clean up really well.
Besides, who are you to judge her based on what she chooses to wear?
She always speaks nicely about other celebrities, even ones who are supposed to be her competition.
In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, Miley said: “The support of other artists is important because there are not many people who can relate to what I’m going through right now. Kanye West is one of those people, and even Katy Perry has been so cool. It’s easy for Kanye to support me because we’re in totally separate lanes of competition, but for Katy to say that she appreciates what I’m really doing for the pop industry, that keeps you going. And I mean, who cares what the media buzz is if Kanye West is telling you that you’re the sh*t?”
She LOVES animals and is obsessed with her dogs.
(I could very easily put about 8,000 pics of her and her dogs here, but I’ll restrain myself)
She’s actually really funny and knows how to make fun of herself. Her recent hosting gig on Saturday Night Live was hilarious – and she loves the Miley impression Vanessa Bayer does.
I mean, did you SEE the government “We Can’t Stop” parody?! It’s gold.
She’s not afraid to open up about her relationship sometimes, which is relatable because a lot of celebrities keep those things under wraps.
Even though everyone says she can’t sing, she actually does have a very nice voice. Just listen:
She’s super confident and always believes in herself no matter how many people make fun of her.
She loves her fans and is very interactive with them. She never lets them forget how appreciative she is, which I think is really nice.

She gets slut-shamed and speaks out about it, noting the double standard in America that everyone complains about, yet most people contribute to.
In a recent Rolling Stones interview, she said: “No one is talking about the man behind the ass. It was a lot of ‘Miley twerks on Robin Thicke,’ but never, ‘Robin Thicke grinds up on Miley.’ They’re only talking about the one that bent over. So obviously there’s a double standard.
She’s very close with her family, which is refreshing to see in Hollywood. And cute!
She stands up for other celebrities because she knows it’s tough out there.
@lordemusic why r people so mean??? Ps your music is awesome

She has also recently defended Justin Bieber, who is another celeb with extremely harsh critics.
She gives pretty good advice sometimes.
Stay in school & Be kind. Other than that HAVE FUN

She doesn’t act like she’s not excited about things and she freaks out over her celeb idols just like we do.

And if you watched her documentary, you would have seen how excited she got over the prospect of doing a song with Britney Spears.
She’s very passionate about her music and works really hard, even though a lot of people just think she’s being dumb.
In her interview with Cosmopolitan, she said: “I need to treat my music like a relationship – give it my time and all the attention it deserves – and that’s my main love right now. This is the best time of my life. I’m not going to look back on it and be like, ‘I wish I hadn’t been dwelling over a breakup,’ you know?” Pretty solid.
She has really good Halloween costumes. What? It’s true!
She’s very open in interviews and on TV, which is kind of really awesome.
She embraces the differences in everyone and doesn’t encourage one standard of beauty.
In an interview with You magazine, she said: “I’m trying to break out of that long hair, big boobs stereotype that women feel they have to conform to. I mean, we’re not living in the freakin’ 1950s – short hair is OK. Have people really got so little imagination?”
She has always encouraged girls to do what they want and be who they are no matter what anyone else says.
In an interview on The Today Show, she said: ”This is who I am. I think it’s only hard if you’re trying to be something you’re not. Being who you are is really easy.”
She’s going through the same stage most people go through around her age, except it’s on a larger scale because she has more access to everyone – plus, EVERYONE is watching and judging her for her mistakes. Yeah, she made the choice to be a celebrity, but I still think she has the right to make mistakes sometimes.
