21 Reasons I Love Miley Cyrus No Matter What For Her 21st Birthday

Tomorrow is Miley Cyrus’s 21st birthday (perhaps you’ve heard of her?), which got me thinking: lately, there are few things that make people as angry as when I tell them that I love Miley Cyrus. I get a lot of reactions like, “WTF is wrong with you?” or “Are you kidding me? How?” or “She’s so stupid and not talented, why would you like her?” Well, there are a lot of reasons why I’ve always been a huge fan of Miley, but we’ll get into those in a minute.

Listen, I know that Miley Cyrus has been acting kind of crazy lately. I won’t deny that she has done some pretty stupid stuff – but I’m also not going to judge her for that stuff because, one, I don’t personally know Miley and two, she’s 21-years-old, guys. She’s learning, she’s figuring stuff out and she’s making mistakes along the way, JUST LIKE ALL OF US. Do I think she needs to tone it down a little? No, not really. A lot of people shame Miley for being “too naked,” for wearing stuff they think is ugly, for sticking her tongue out and for basically anything else she does, ever. I think it’s kind of ridiculous. Miley can do whatever she wants with her life and you don’t have to like it – but you also don’t have to rip the girl apart for it. The same people who constantly complain about Miley being famous are usually the same people who can’t stop talking about how “stupid” she is.

I’m not saying you have to love Miley Cyrus or that my opinion is the only opinion. I just think that, as much stupid stuff as the girl does, she also does and says some stuff that’s actually really cool. Here are 21 reasons why I love Miley for her 21st birthday.

She has always been a huge LGBT supporter, which is really cool in my book. She even got a tattoo of an equal sign to symbolize her support for same-sex marriage.

She’s always herself, even when everyone is making fun of her for it. In a world where celebrities act very fake, it’s nice to see someone who acts real.

She might dress horribly sometimes (she’s had some pretty weird outfits), but she also knows how to clean up really well.

Besides, who are you to judge her based on what she chooses to wear?

She always speaks nicely about other celebrities, even ones who are supposed to be her competition.

In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, Miley said: “The support of other artists is important because there are not many people who can relate to what I’m going through right now. Kanye West is one of those people, and even Katy Perry has been so cool. It’s easy for Kanye to support me because we’re in totally separate lanes of competition, but for Katy to say that she appreciates what I’m really doing for the pop industry, that keeps you going. And I mean, who cares what the media buzz is if Kanye West is telling you that you’re the sh*t?”

She LOVES animals and is obsessed with her dogs.

(I could very easily put about 8,000 pics of her and her dogs here, but I’ll restrain myself)

She’s actually really funny and knows how to make fun of herself. Her recent hosting gig on Saturday Night Live was hilarious – and she loves the Miley impression Vanessa Bayer does.

I mean, did you SEE the government “We Can’t Stop” parody?! It’s gold.

She’s not afraid to open up about her relationship sometimes, which is relatable because a lot of celebrities keep those things under wraps.

Even though everyone says she can’t sing, she actually does have a very nice voice. Just listen:

She’s super confident and always believes in herself no matter how many people make fun of her.

She loves her fans and is very interactive with them. She never lets them forget how appreciative she is, which I think is really nice.

She gets slut-shamed and speaks out about it, noting the double standard in America that everyone complains about, yet most people contribute to.

In a recent Rolling Stones interview, she said: “No one is talking about the man behind the ass. It was a lot of ‘Miley twerks on Robin Thicke,’ but never, ‘Robin Thicke grinds up on Miley.’ They’re only talking about the one that bent over. So obviously there’s a double standard.

She’s very close with her family, which is refreshing to see in Hollywood. And cute!

She stands up for other celebrities because she knows it’s tough out there.

She has also recently defended Justin Bieber, who is another celeb with extremely harsh critics.

She gives pretty good advice sometimes.

She doesn’t act like she’s not excited about things and she freaks out over her celeb idols just like we do.

And if you watched her documentary, you would have seen how excited she got over the prospect of doing a song with Britney Spears.

She’s very passionate about her music and works really hard, even though a lot of people just think she’s being dumb.

In her interview with Cosmopolitan, she said: “I need to treat my music like a relationship – give it my time and all the attention it deserves – and that’s my main love right now. This is the best time of my life. I’m not going to look back on it and be like, ‘I wish I hadn’t been dwelling over a breakup,’ you know?” Pretty solid.

She has really good Halloween costumes. What? It’s true!

She’s very open in interviews and on TV, which is kind of really awesome.

She embraces the differences in everyone and doesn’t encourage one standard of beauty.

In an interview with You magazine, she said: “I’m trying to break out of that long hair, big boobs stereotype that women feel they have to conform to. I mean, we’re not living in the freakin’ 1950s – short hair is OK. Have people really got so little imagination?”

She has always encouraged girls to do what they want and be who they are no matter what anyone else says.

In an interview on The Today Show, she said: ”This is who I am. I think it’s only hard if you’re trying to be something you’re not. Being who you are is really easy.”

She’s going through the same stage most people go through around her age, except it’s on a larger scale because she has more access to everyone – plus, EVERYONE is watching and judging her for her mistakes. Yeah, she made the choice to be a celebrity, but I still think she has the right to make mistakes sometimes.

Miley Cyrus is my idol. I never used to look up to her (when she was doing Hannah Montana and things like that) but the day she cut her hair off and started to ignore the negativity that people gave her, she became a stronger women and became one of my most fav celebs of all time. everybody picks on her for making mistakes but everybody does it so why make it a huge deal? this is a great post I am happy someone is standing up for her:)

Hi! I thank you for defending Miley. I am one of her fans and I love her so much. At first, of course I was shocked to her new looks and style but I still love her. Those people who judge and hate her are people who were insecure to Miley because she’s freaking awesome! \m/ I am still broken hearted knowing that Hannah Montana is now dead and will never come back but I still have Miley and she inspires me and I admire her so much and I love her and she won’t let me down even if she’s the creepiest girl in the world. She’s being herself and I love how strong she is despite what happened between her and his idiot ex-fiance Liam. Miley has moved on and I love how she shows it to people. She’s strong and freaking amazing! I will always be here for her and I will always support her even if almost everyone doesn’t. My loyalty is for her and always will be <3

Thank you for posting this. It will make her happy to read something like this if she actually reads internet posts about her (I know I wouldn’t – but she used to, so why not now right?).
If your special your going have haters. Its a sucky part of life.. Get the cutest guy around, a bunch of girls around hate you for it. Have a great personality and people love you? Someones going to lie about you. Good paying job? Some girl who works at mcd’s that you go to school with is going to review you online negatively.
I have a few haters and of course its for no good reason ever. (Yeah girl, okay my hair is way shinier than yours – get over it, its just argan oil! haha) but theres always people backing you up too. Thank you for backing up Miley, btw… Hannah WAS NOT MURDERED! Miley was misinformed!

So she acts real by appropriating black culture in her mannerism and dress? Oh okay yeah thats very real. White people wanna always participate in the fun aspects of being black but don’t have to deal with the stigma of it. Whenever miley does something A black celeb done it is seen as edgy or cool, but when it is a black celeb shit hits the fan in white america. Fucking tired of celebs like her and justin bieber and any other non-black celeb being praised by some people for their “realness” she’s a country white girl. This “hood” persona she has taken up ain’t shit real. Drop her and any other black imitator in a real hood and watch how quickly she straightens up.

I don’t like her one bit–she does all that stuff because she’s an attention seeker. I am so sick of hearing about her, it’s not even funny.
