One thing I have always wanted my whole life is to know how to make my teeth whiter. There’s something about bright white teeth that I really love – and I know I’m not alone. It’s not that difficult to get whiter teeth. Unfortunately, I’m just lazy and also would rather spend my money on clothes instead of whitening products.
But maybe that will change since I just sort of inspired myself with these DIY tips for whiter teeth. There are a lot of products out there that you could spend a lot of money on to get shinier teeth and while they definitely do work (I used to use Crest Whitestrips, which are pretty amazing), they can also be expensive. If you don’t have the money blow, what should you do instead? Turn to Pinterest, obviously! Here are 8 DIY tips and tricks to make your teeth whiter… you probably already have all these things in your house. Good luck and tell me how it goes!
Try Banana PeelsRubbing a banana peel on your teeth seems to be insanely popular on Pinterest. Rub it all over your teeth for about two minutes and then brush them. I can't wait to try this - it literally could not be easier and it also means I get to eat a banana. This probably won't make a huge, dramatic difference, but it should make at least a small one. Use StrawberriesAnother whitening fruit that people swear by is strawberries. All you have to do is crush one strawberry, add about 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, mix into a paste, put that on your toothbrush and apply to your teeth. Leave it on there for about five minutes and then rinse and brush normally. This sounds super easy and also, strawberries are delicious, so this won't be some gross paste you have in your mouth. Mix Up Some Baking SodaBaking soda is well known for it's teeth whitening abilities and every kitchen should be stocked with it. All you have to do is sprinkle it on top of the toothpaste already on your toothbrush. It doesn't have the best taste, but it does produce results. Source: ShutterStock
Drink Through A StrawThis tip could not be more simple - start drinking through a straw! A lot of sugary drinks, like coffee, soda and certain teas, can easily stain your teeth. To avoid getting the drink on your teeth as much, sip them through a straw. This won't exactly make your teeth whiter, it's more of a preventative measure. Source: ShutterStock
Make A Custom Whitening TrayUsing a whitening tray will make whatever kind of paste you're putting on your teeth stay longer - and it will also ensure that you don't have to taste that paste. You can make your own using this quick tutorial. Use this for the strawberry paste or the lemon and salt. From KandeeJ.com
Use Hydrogen PeroxideAccording to ChickRx, if you mix two tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide and two tablespoons of baking soda, put it on a toothbrush and brush your teeth with it for two minutes, you'll get whiter teeth in no time. Source: ShutterStock
Use Lemon CarefullyAccording to Dr. Oz, you can mix half a lemon with about a 1/4 cup of baking soda (some other sites say to use a little salt instead) and apply it to your teeth. However, you should only do this once a month. The acidity in lemon can very easily damage your teeth and be more trouble than it's worth. I would only try this if you're desperate. Don't Forget To FlossFlossing on a regular basis is essential to getting whiter teeth. It removes the icky buildup that your toothbrush can't get to. I know that, personally, I always forget about flossing. Let's all try to make it a daily habit. Source: ShutterStock
