I’m seeing so much inspiration for Halloween costumes that I’m struggling to pick just ONE! Being from the South, I love anything having to do with cowgirls and cowboys. Give me boots and jeans any day! I knew I wanted to do a cowgirl-inspired tutorial so today is the day!
For a costume, all you need is jeans, boots and maybe a flannel plaid or Western-style shirt. You can also throw on a cowboy hat or bandana and carry a lasso or stuffed horse around. For this tutorial, I took a little inspiration from Jessie of Toy Story and a little of my own Southern flair.
You Need: Hair Ties
You need two for pigtails, one for a braid. I recommend these little ones. You can get clear ones for lighter hair or black or brown for dark hair.
You Need: Brown Eyeliner
I'm using Mary Kay eyeliner in Deep Brown.
You Need: A Small Shadow Brush
We're not using a lot of eye shadow, so I used this brush to fit in the corner of my eyes.
You Need: A Light Shadow
I'm using this NYX Love in Paris palette in Merci Beaucoup, which is filled with awesome neutrals. I used the top left shade. Feel free to use any light shadow of your choice!
You Need: Mascara
Still loving this Boots No. 7 Lash Adapt! You want big lashes for this look.
Do Your Face Makeup As Usual
Today I have on Neutrogena's SkinClearing Liquid Makeup and CoverGirl's Clean Pressed Powder. Do your face as you usually would.
Draw On Some Freckles
Using the brown eyeliner, dab fake freckles on your cheeks and across your nose. Make sure to vary them in size!
Draw As Many As You Want
You can add as many or as little as you want!
Apply Shadow To Your Inner Corner & Add Mascara
Using your small shadow brush, apply a light eye shadow to the inner corners of your eyes. This will make your eyes appear big and open, like Jessie. Coat your lashes with a lot of mascara for big, doll-like lashes!
Braid Your Hair
Part your hair down the middle and give yourself some cute pigtail braids. You can put bows on the end or add a cowboy hat or bandana to complete the look. Have fun, y'all!
