Fall is in full-swing and for most of us, the temperature is starting to drop quickly. I love fall weather, but I wasn’t prepared for it to get so chilly so fast! I’m definitely jealous of you girls in warmer climates.
Anyway, with every new season comes new fashion rules, and fall is no exception. As you know, I’m very much into the “wear what you want” way of life, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t follow basic guidelines. And really, these things aren’t so much rules as they are things that will help you out during the fall.
I was notorious as a kid for not wanting to bring a jacket when my mom told me to, and I’d end up freezing my butt off. I’m not your mom so maybe you’ll feel better heeding my warnings?
Still Wearing Your Summer Clothes
Sorry darling, but your summer sundresses and beach cover-ups should go in storage right about now. You can still wear bright colors, just make sure your outfits are weather-appropriate!
Not Packing An Umbrella
It rains A LOT in the fall! Why? I don't know, I'm not a weather expert. But make sure you have an umbrella on you when you leave the house.
Fall is fickle. It's cool in the morning and at night, but it can be pretty toasty during the day. Wear layers so you're ready for any temperature.
I don't believe in the "No White After Labor Day" rule. BUT I do believe in the "Certain Whites After Labor Day" rule. Put down the stark white jeans and linen pants. Opt for ivory and winter whites instead.
Not Changing Out Of Your Rain Boots
Unless you have perfectly fitting rain boots, don't forget to bring another pair of shoes with you to your destination. Rain boots are heavy and hard to walk in!
Not Being Prepared
In addition to layering, always make sure you have a sweater or jacket with you. 60 degrees may not sound cold, but it can feel really chilly especially if you're not in the sun.
Wearing Open-Toe Shoes Or Sandals
I will say that some peep toe shoes can look really cute with tights, so that's an exception. But leave your beach sandals and strappy shoes in storage for now.
