The other day when I was browsing Tumblr, I came across a post that described August as “the Sunday of summer.” I see what they mean: August has always been full of a weird sense of slow restlessness. As much as it can be a time for new starts, it feels like more of a slow decline. Essentially, the fun’s over, folks. That ice cream is melting, you’re bombarded with back-to-school shopping ads and that list of summer goals is woefully neglected. “Next summer,” you tell yourself as your calendar creeps closer and closer towards September.
Well, summer’s not over yet, okay? There’s still time to do whatever you’ve been procrastinating on, but how about a last hurrah? So here’s a playlist dedicated to summer’s end: The flings, the unforgettable nights and the lazy afternoons. It’s time to relish the last dregs of summer sun and summer memories.
Tracklist: Best Coast – Summer Mood | Widowspeak – Half Awake | Lana Del Rey – Summertime Sadness | CSS – Beautiful Song | Arctic Monkeys – The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala | The Beatles – I’m Only Sleeping | Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – Blue Turning Gray | The Strokes – What Ever Happened | Regina Spektor – Summer In The City | Dog Is Dead – Glockenspiel Song
