As you all know, I’m single. While I’m enjoying the single life and going on dates and not being tied down and being all YOLO (it’s still a thing, you guys), sometimes I think about what it would be like to be in a relationship again. It’s been over a year since my last real relationship, although I’ve had sort-of-but-not-really relationships in the meantime. And those were nice, but they weren’t actual relationships so it’s not the same.
Does this mean that I’m ready to have a relationship again? I don’t know! I feel like it’s normal to miss being part of a couple. Right? Tell me it’s normal. I know I’m not ready to meld my life with someone else right now. I can’t even make my bed or do my hair every day. How am I supposed to handle being around another person all the time?
Anyway, here are 10 things I miss about being in a relationship:
Hanging Out In Bed All Day
I don't sleep a lot, but I LOVE laying in bed all day. But there's only so much satisfaction I get out of laying in bed with Oreos and my Netflix account, you know?
Always Having A Hookup Partner
Do I have guys that I can hookup with? Yeah, but they aren't ALWAYS there. I have to plan to hang out with them and what if they're busy and then I'm like "Looks like it's you and me again, Netflix!".
OH MY GOD I MISS THESE SO MUCH. I love forehead kisses. Forehead kisses seem to only exist in couple-land.
I'm not the world's biggest cuddler, but I really like holding hands. Maybe it's because I have tiny hands that just fit nicely in other people's hands. I don't know. Someone hold my hand, please.
Stealing Man Products
Guys have some great products, okay? Have you smelled Old Spice body wash? I use guy deodorant, which I have no problem shopping for. But I can't just buy up a bunch of dude products at the drug store without looking weird, right?
Who am I supposed to get over-sized button down shirts from? Where am I supposed to get comfy sweatpants? T-shirts that have a hint of cologne?
Having A Permanent Movie Partner
Your friends can easily say no to watching a dumb movie that you really want to see. Your boyfriend cannot.
Always Having Someone To Do Activities With
A lot of my friends are not up for cool activities like rollerblading or hiking. In a relationship, you're always looking for things to do. Case-in-point: boyfriend=activities.
Not Having To Go On Awkward Dates
I've been going on a lot of dates recently, and I hate first dates. They are weird. Some have been fun, but for the most part, I don't like them. When you're in a relationship, you get to go on non-awkward dates.
I can kill bugs and stuff on my own, thank you. But sometimes at night when I hear a weird noise or think I'm being followed home, it would be nice to have someone to comfort be.
