The struggle is real today, girls. I just enjoyed a week-long vacation in the Caribbean, which was amazing and relaxing and all sorts of wonderful. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end and now I am back at work feeling exhausted. Also looking exhausted… in fact, I’m pretty sure I look like death.
Since no one enjoys being told, “You look so tired!” all day, I’ve decided to help myself and help the rest of you not look tired… even when you’re as exhausted as I am right now. There are a few tips and tricks out there to make you look fresh and perky even when you’ve made the bad decision to stay up all night and be depressed about your vacation pictures – uh, I mean go to a really cool party with all your friends. Here are 8 tips on how to not look tired and fool everyone around you. You’ll thank me one day.
Try Cucumber SlicesThere's a reason they have these babies at basically every salon ever. Cool cucumber slices over your eyes will help reduce puffiness and even make you feel a little more refreshed. If you have an extra 15 minutes in the morning, put these over your eyes, lay down and relax. Ahhhhh. Source: ShutterStock
Moisturize Your FaceYou should already be using moisturizer every day, but it's especially important when you're feeling and looking exhausted. It will make your skin look more fresh and dewy rather than dull and sleepy. I especially love this Clean & Clear Morning Burst moisturizer. It feels light, it's not oily and it also gives me a cool, tingly feeling. This just came out, but you can buy it here!
Make Concealer Your BFFIf you're feeling sleepy, you're obviously going to want to have concealer close by because it's probably the best way to cover up those annoying dark undereye circles. Apply a few dabs under your eyes and blend well. Source: ShutterStock
Use BB CreamIf you aren't already obsessed with this stuff, I don't know what you've been doing with your life. BB Cream is amazing and does so many good things for your skin, including evening out your skin tone, brightening up your face and moisturizing. I personally love Garnier's BB Cream and can't go a day without using it. You can buy this at Ulta
Highlight With White EyelinerNot only is white eyeliner a great way to make your eyes look bigger, but it's also a great tool to have when you look like you're about to fall asleep at your desk. I love this Chella Highlighting Pencil, which can also be used on your lips and face. I mainly use it on my eyes (since it makes them really pop) by lining the inner corners and water line. It makes an amazing difference. You can buy this here!
Avoid A Smokey EyeWhen you're feeling exhausted, you probably don't want to go for a ton of dark, smokey eye makeup.. it's only going to make you look even more tired. Skip the sultry look and instead go for something a little more natural and minimal, like a light, shimmery gold along with lots of mascara. Source: ShutterStock
Keep Blush HandyAnother essential for when you're trying to look more awake is definitely blush. It will give your cheeks a pop of rosy color that they're probably missing. My absolute favorite blush is NARS Orgasm because it's literally the perfect color. It's a little pricey but totally worth it. You can buy this at Sephora!
Put Your Hair UpWhen you're extra sleepy, you probably don't feel like putting any effort into your hair. As a result, it probably looks droopy, limp and maybe a little oily. Avoid styling it by putting it up in a ponytail or sock bun. It will make you look instantly perky and put together. Source: ShutterStock
