I have a knack for being a tad dramatic. I’ve been that way since I was a kid. Once, I ran into my mom’s bathroom, grabbed her red lipstick and drew it ALL over my face because I wanted attention. Whatevs, I think I looked cute.
I’ve always been into dramatic makeup, especially smokey eyes. I don’t care if it’s daytime, I’ll wear black eye shadow anyway. Smokey eyes can be really intimidating, though. The first time I tried it, I got black shadow everywhere. I couldn’t blend, and it was just a huge mess.
Thankfully after a lot of practice, I’ve since learned how to do it and even come up with some ways to make it super easy. Seriously, once you master this you’ll be able to do it in about five minutes!

You Need: Eye Primer
You definitely want everything to stay put so a primer is a must.
You Need: A Fluffy Shadow Brush
You Need: Eyeliner
Obviously, I'm using my favorite Maybelline Master Precise marker liner.
You Need: Q-Tips
This is what makes this how-to so easy!
You Need: Mascara
Still hooked on CoverGirl's LashBlast!
You Need: A Light Eyeshadow
I'm using Virgin from Urban Decay's Naked palette.
You Need: Black Eyeshadow
I'm using Creep from Urban Decay's Naked palette.
Use Q-Tip To Apply Black Shadow
I know you're all "Why aren't you using a brush?" Well, because this is really easy. Q-Tips get the smudgey look that smokey eyes often have. So, use a Q-Tip to apply black shadow to the outer corner of your lid.
Being messy here is okay because we're going to blend all of this out. It doesn't have to be perfect!
Add Some Under Your Lashline
This really makes a smokey eye. Add a little shadow on the outer corner underneath your lower lashline.
Blend The Lid
Using a brush, apply light shadow to the inner corner of your lid and blend it with the black.
Notice there's a nice smokey gradient, and the black doesn't look as heavy.
Blend Above Lid
Using the same light shadow, apply it to your brow bone and lightly blend out the black.
Now it looks less harsh and more smokey! At this point, add your eyeliner and mascara as you like it.
I did a small cat eye for my liner and lined my lower water line for a more sultry look.
And you're totally done! How easy was that?
