When I was in high school, most of my friends went on vacationfor the whole summer while I was stuck at home. Our family did vacations, but my family’s business required us to stay in town most of the time. I didn’t mind though! I love my hometown and always had a blast anyway.
But it can be really sucky when all of your friends are gone, and you’re stuck alone and bored. You wish you could just hop in your BFF’s suitcase and go with her and her fam on that cruise. Being bored at home is awful, but you can make the most of it!
Since I’m pretty much a pro at staying home, I figured I can pass along some of my boredom cures to y’all!
Pamper yourself with an at-home spa day! Make a DIY face mask, do your nails and relax.
Redecorate And Rearrange Your Room
This is the perfect time for you to give your room that makeover. Whether you just move the furniture around or do a complete overhaul, this project will kill some of that boredom.
Do Some Gardening
Gardening is really underrated. Planting things and actually watching them grow is such a cool process! Make a little garden in your yard or make a potted garden that you can keep indoors.
Read A New Book
When do you read books for fun? Step away from the required reading and crack open a new book! I'm currently reading the Divergent series, and it's amazing.
Summer is the perfect time to pick up that yoga class you've been wanting to go to. Or just go spend some time doing activities outside! Join a kickball league!
Explore Your Home
I'm sure there is a ton to do in your hometown that you haven't done yet. Do some research and go try that new restaurant that opened or visit the zoo.
Make a bunch of stuff! When your friends come back from vacation, give them home souvenirs! If you need some craft ideas, we have a show for that.
Learn How To Cook
If I didn't learn how to cook when I was still at home, I would not survive as an adult. Learn how to make a few basic meals and surprise your family by making dinner.
Take Up A New Hobby
Have you ever wanted to learn an instrument? Or a new language? Take the summer to focus on learning something new!
Volunteering at your local animal shelter or retirement home is a great way to get out of the house. Not to mention, giving back feels really great!
