Truthfully, I don’t know where this #unpopularopinion hashtag on Twitter came from. I saw at least 1,000 tweets from One Direction fans about their #unpopularopinion on the boys of 1D and I also saw a bunch from the Justin Bieber fandom. So, maybe this hashtag was originally created for Beliebers and Directioners. I don’t know. Either way, it created some pretty awesome tweets that don’t have anything to do with either of those topics.
I love this hashtag because we all have some sort of unpopular opinion – something we think that the majority of other people don’t agree with. Sometimes it can be hard to express those opinions, because everyone around you is going to be all, “WHAT?! What do you mean you like/don’t like that?!” For example, in our office, Caitlin hates donuts, Ashley can’t stand mint chocolate chip ice cream, Julie doesn’t understand why everyone loves peanut butter and chocolate together and I don’t eat meat because I think it’s wrong. So what’s your unpopular opinion? Read my favorite tweets from this hashtag and then tell us yours:
WHA?! Sweet little Dobby?!
Can’t argue with this one. I like a good pop song as much as the next girl, but…
Well, yes, it’s the only way to be 100 percent sure you won’t get pregnant, but it’s not the only way…

Girlllll, you are missing out.

Totally true! More girls need to feel this way.

But… but… fried pickles? What about fried pickles?
Oooh, I hate to be annoying, but everything about that documentary was fake.
Sadly, this isn’t the first time I’ve heard this.
Couldn’t agree more. A lot of people have very high expectations, but relationships will never be perfect.
Giiiiiirrrrlllllll.
Well, yes. This is true.
Ugh, I agree. It’s like, bragging about this stuff does not make you cool.
Truth!
Hey, there’s nothing wrong with being passionate about your career and your dreams.
It is! That stuff needs to go.
Truth. Amanda Bynes needs genuine help… she doesn’t need supporters who encourage and enable her behavior.
Agreed. Being religious is great, but it doesn’t make you better than others who don’t choose to be religious.
Nooooooooooooooo. Noooooooo.
Hehe. This one makes me giggle.
Not even going to comment on this one.

Which of these tweets was your favorite? What do you disagree with? What do you agree with? What’s your unpopular opinion? Tell us in the comments!

The one about Tumblr is only half true. There are many blogs on Tumblr which do glamorize mental disorders but there are also plenty that act as support groups, that allow these kids to have someone to talk to who understands what they are going through and blogs which show the true pain that a mental disorder can bring to someone. It’s given a lot of people the opportunity to reach out to others and realize that they aren’t so alone.
I dont agree about the tumblr one. I see your point that a few blogs glamorize. But really, the vast majority dont. I was depressed for a while before tumblr. And I also just happened to stop being depressed while on tumblr. I mean, you cant judge people all of the people on tumblr, with those stupid users.
