I thought we were going to ease into the summer heat, but I was wrong. It’s been hot as all Hades out lately, and while I appreciate the warmth as opposed to the glacial winter we had, I’m getting too hot.
I’m keeping my sweating at bay though with my favorite anti-sweat products, but those don’t always stop me from getting a little greasy and shiny. Now, there’s a difference between the healthy, dewy look and the greasy look. Dewy is cute, greasy is not.
I have oily skin, which is not fun in the summer. It means I have to work extra hard to keep my face from looking like an oil slick by noon. But I’ve gotten pretty good at perfecting the art of a matte finish.

Boots No. 7 Photo Fix Primer
A good primer is a necessity, especially if you have oily skin. It acts as a barrier between your skin and your makeup and keeps everything in place.
Clean & Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser
You want to look for a cleanser that has long-lasting oil control. Layering up with oil control products really helps.
Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is some wizard liquid. It's wonderful! It will help control your skin all day and get rid of red spots at the same time. MAGIC!
Thayer's Original Witch Hazel
I used to use fancy toners until I realized that Witch Hazel works to control oil AND hydrate your skin. Swipe this on after washing your face.
Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets
I always have oil absorbing sheets around just in case I need them. Any kind will do!
e.l.f. Studio High Definition Powder
This keeps your makeup in place all day, but it also combats oil production so you don't look greasy.
Lush Cosmetics Imperialis Moisturizer
You must moisturize your skin, even if it's oily!! You have to keep everything balanced. This Imperialis moisturizer from Lush is my favorite because it leaves a matte finish but hydrates my skin too. It's a little pricey, but I've had mine for almost 4 months and haven't used it all up.
Urban Decay Primer Potion
For my oily girls, wearing eye makeup can be a pain when it smudges everywhere. You definitely need an eye primer, and Urban Decay's Primer Potion is my all-time favorite.
Heritage Store Rose Water
Rose water is another magical substance that is great for all skin types. I spray this on my face after doing my makeup to set everything or if I need a refresher while I'm out and about.
Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask
This is my favorite mask ever! It literally sucks up all the bad oil on your face and leaves your skin feeling tight and clean. Use this twice a week or as needed.
