10 Things You Should Never Say To Your Crush

Talking to your crush can be… difficult. When you’re talking to the person who gives you butterflies in your stomach, it’s hard to have a totally normal conversation because your brain is sort of going, “OMGOMGOMGOMG.” It’s sooo easy to slip up and say something seriously embarrassing, weird or awkward. And who knows? You could even give off a really bad impression of yourself.

While I always encourage you girls to be yourselves and let your true personality shine no matter who you’re talking to, I have to say that there are some things you should never say to your crush. I mean, you can if you want, but I wouldn’t exactly recommend it. Check out these 10 things you should never say to your crush… the next time you’re talking to that special someone, I have a feeling you’ll thank me for these.

“I have my period.”

Getting your period is obviously nothing to be ashamed of. But announcing it’s that time of the month to everyone around you? Ehhh… that makes some people uncomfortable. It especially makes dudes uncomfortable. If you blurt out to him that you’re PMSing or that you have your period, chances are, you’re going to gross him out a little bit.

“My parents would love you!”

Even if you mean this as compliment, don’t do it. Just don’t… especially if you guys have never been on a date and he’s never met your parents. This kind of statement will totally freak him out, even if he really likes you and wants to ask you out. It’s going to make him feel like you want to rush things super fast and no one likes feeling that kind of pressure.

“I had a dream about you last night.”

This is a pretty bold attempt at flirting. I mean, if you want to go for it, go for it with a huge dose of confidence. But be careful: if you say this the wrong way, it’s going to come out way creepy rather than way sexy.

“Do you think I look fat in this outfit?”

Girl, you’re either fishing for compliments or just showing off some low self-esteem to the wrong person. Dudes dig confidence. They don’t dig girls who ask if they look fat in something. (And hey, you don’t look fat!)

Do you want him bringing up his ex-girlfriend? Nah, didn’t think so. Don’t do it, even if you’re talking badly about him. All this will do is show your crush that you’re totally not over your ex yet.

“I noticed that we have 73 mutual friends on Facebook. Cool, right?!”

If you guys are Facebook friends you obviously don’t need to hide that you’ve seen things on your profile. But if you’ve already stalked his profile a minimum of one million times, try not to let those little facts about him slip out. It’s a little creepy.

“Aw, we would make such a cute baby!”

I have no idea why you would say this to a crush during one of your first convos, but don’t. Again – you’re going to totally freak him out. And, I mean, do you blame the guy?!

“OMG, did you see what Ashley was wearing in history? SO ugly.”

I’m all for a good gossip sesh, but trash talk is different. It’s fine to indulge in this once in a while with your BFF in private, but don’t gossip or trash talk in front of your crush. All that spells out to a guy is D-R-A-M-A. And everyone knows that drama is a dude’s worst nightmare.

“Oh, that’s your friend? I hate that guy.”

What if he said something rude about your bestie knowing she’s your bestie? You’d be totally turned off, right? Right. So don’t rip on his friends, unless you have a super legitimate reason.

“You are such a great friend.”

Maybe you don’t mean it this way, but all this phrase means to a guy is that he’s in the friend zone. And you want him to know you like him, right? Right.

Have you ever said any of these things? Do you disagree with any of them? Which GIF is your favorite? Tell me in the comments.

WOW….What if he is a friend that you have a crush on? You know the whole, I really like you but we are friends how do I tell you I want to be more then friends, thing???

If you ever tell a guy you like but don’t know particularly well you have your period, then you can be certain he will never look at you in the same way again. My crush told me something about his down there a few months ago and then put his hands there, and I was so revolted that I couldn’t think of him without pulling a face.

While I get that the “friend zone” is still a popular concept among the younger age set and that it’s very likely many guys would think about the world in that way, I’m surprised to see gurl using that term. I liked the rest of the article, though :3

I completely agree with you, I definitely cringe every time I hear that term. Any time I hear a guy complain about being in the “friendzone” all I can think is “Wow, I didn’t realize being friends with a girl was so terrible. She doesn’t want to sleep with you so she’s a b****? Shut up.”
Aside from that, I loved this and the choice of characters. Sam, Sheldon, JD, Jon Stewart, Loki… I felt like I was on Tumblr.
Also, one of the huge pros about dating girls is that you can mention if you’re on your period and it’s no big deal. Obviously another girl isn’t going to freak out over it. You can also say “We would make such cute babies” and it’ll probably just lead to laughter.
