The tale of star-crossed lovers is a popular trope in love stories since well, forever. No matter what they go through or how tragic their love story is or how incompatible they really are, you root for them to be together.
Star-crossed lovers prove that love conquers all, even feuding families and dark magic.
Check out 6 of our favorite star-crossed couples:
Lena and Ethan of Beautiful Creatures

The two fall in love, but their family histories reveal a complicated past that threatens to keep them apart. In order to break a terrible curse, one of Lena’s loved ones has to die. Lena doesn’t want anything to happen to Ethan so she erases his memory, even if it means he doesn’t remember her. But the memories come back to him months later. Will they end up together?
Romeo and Juliet of Romeo and Juliet
Because DUH. The oldest tragic pair of star-crossed lovers makes for the greatest love story of all time. Romeo is a Motague, Juliet is a Capulet. The families have been feuding forever, and the pair is doomed from the start. Juliet is promised to another man but schemes with the Friar to escape using a drug that will make her appear dead. The message never reaches Romeo so he kills himself with poison when he finds his love dead. She awakens to find Romeo dead and kills herself with his dagger, ensuring they are together forever. THE TRAGEDY.

I’m with Morgan on this one.
Ross and Rachel.
There’s a reason they always come up when any stringent television romance is mentioned.
Seriously? Romeo and Juliet? okay. I see how this is one of the most famous love stories. BUT IT IS SO STUPID!!! He is 15, she is 13! 13!!! They get married TWO DAYS after they meet. TWO DAYS!!!! I dont think this is a story of true love. Lust? Yes… Maybe Juliet believed it was love, after all, it was only her first time EVER meeting a guy (well, she was supposed to meet and marry Paris, but that didnt work out). So she could have believed it. But Romeo only went to the party that he met Juliet at to get over Rosaline, THE GIRL THAT HE WAS IN LOVE WITH!!!!
Also, Romeo stalks her. Like, legit. After the party, the famed “balcony” scene, it all started out because he was stalking her room. From her backyard. SHE DIDNT EVEN KNOW HE WAS THERE! In the “Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo part” she was talking to herself. When she said that he could have her and her love, HE JUMPED out of the bushes to say that sure, he would have her.
I am sorry for anyone who doesnt believe in this, but I do.
