What You’ve Had To Say About Why Feminism Is Positive – And You Need It!

I don’t think I really thought about feminism at all until I was in college. Until that point, I never really thought about what it meant or how it could possibly apply to my life. When I got to college and joined the Feminist Club and started taking women’s studies classes, suddenly I started seeing the importance of feminism and began to learn what it meant – both in terms of a definition and application to my life.

A lot of times, feminism can have this negative connotation. We talk a lot about feminism here on the site and our hope is to dispel some of those stigmas. Today, we wanted to continue to celebrate feminism in a positive light by highlighting what some of you have said feminism means to you and why you think it’s necessary.

I decided to learn more about Feminism after I overheard two boys having a conversation about the benefits of feminism in the library while I was printing out an assignment. Yes strangely enough I became a feminist because of two boys! I don’t know who they were but I realize now that they had probably just come from the “Miss representation” day in career and life management class which teaches about female representation in the media.
