This might sound weird, but I think one of the best things about watching TV shows is watching the character transformations that happen throughout the different seasons. Sure, a lot of characters stay basically the same, but some of them transform into a completely different person than they were at the beginning of the show. It’s so fun to watch!
Obviously, I have a list of favorite TV character transformations from some of my favorite TV shows. We’ve all watched these characters grow and change into themselves, so it sort of feels like we really know them, you know? Check out 10 of the best transformations of all time:
Jenna from Awkward
Jenna went through a transformation that I think we all go through at some point in life and that’s why it’s so cool – we can totally relate. When we first met Jenna, she was pretty insecure and was very conscious of what other people thought about her. But by the end of season two, we had seen an entirely new Jenna: she’s more confident, she knows how to deal with her problems in a more mature way and she’s way more willing to speak her mind. Go Jenna! Tune in to the season premiere of Awkward season 3 TONIGHT at 10/9c on MTV!
Michelle from Full House
We literally watched Michelle grow up from a tiny baby to an adorable little girl. But her looks and height aren’t the only thing that changed – Michelle went from a sweet, sort of quiet baby who just looked cute all the time to a sarcastic, funny and sometimes bratty girl who rolled her eyes a lot. It’s okay, we still love her.
Rory from Gilmore Girls
Rory and Jenna actually went through similar changes, except Rory took way longer to really come into her own. In the beginning of Gilmore Girls, Rory is a super quiet bookworm who puts school and her mom over everything else. Until she starts dating dudes who are bad news, which, you know, happens. By the end of the show, Rory is stealing boats, not speaking to her mom at all and carrying around $10,000 handbags (thanks to Logan). The good news? She finally finds a balance between good girl Rory and bad girl Rory and it’s great.
Topnaga from Boy Meets World
I bet you don’t even remember how much Topanga really did change from the beginning of this show to the end (I almost didn’t). Our first impression of Topanga is that she’s a total flower-child hippie who meditates in class and has a weird sister named Nebbie. Even weirder? She has a huge crush on Eric, Cory’s brother. But after those first few episodes, her crush on Eric and her sister are never mentioned again, sort of like they just never happened. We also watch Topanga transform from a spaced-out hippie to a mature, smart bombshell. Proof that there’s hope for us all.
Daniel from Revenge
Daniel is the only dude on this list and he hasn’t been around for very long, but it’s fine – he’s already done enough transforming for the rest of the show. When we first meet Daniel, he’s a rich, preppy kid with a psycho for a roommate and a serious drunk driving record. Once he starts dating Emily, we see his “true colors” as a totally sweet romantic who just wants to be happy and write or paint or whatever, despite what his parents want for them. Then, suddenly, he becomes a mini version of his dad, all cut-throat and bitter and selfish. Not cool, Daniel. Not cool.
Jenny from Gossip Girl
Oh, Little J. How I don’t miss your antics. Jenny not only had a serious transformation in Gossip Girl, but in real life as well. Little J starts out as the only sweet and innocent girl in Constance. She has big blue doe eyes and wears bows in her hair and hates Blair because she’s mean and awful. And then, out of the blue, Jenny starts piling on the black eyeliner, being even more awful and mean than even Blair, designing grungy clothes and sleeping with the dude who once tried to rape her. Oh, okay. Pretty drastic.
Mary from 7th Heaven
It was inevitable that one of Eric Camden’s goody-two-shoes kids would become a bad seed and Mary took the job like a pro. She starts off as this amazing basketball player who loves church and has dreams to play pro ball. But after she has kind of the worst luck ever, she decides against going to college, moves out of her parents house, starts hating her parents, dates a bunch of loser guys, drinks and then has a kid with some dude named Carlos. It’s complicated and weird but it all happened.
Sookie from True Blood
Remember that time Sookie wore a lot of pink flowery sundresses and looked like she had never experienced anything in the world except for sunshine and butterflies? Yeah, that time is long gone. When we were first introduced to Sookie, she was innocent and angelic, but she quickly turned into a strong girl who knows how to protect herself. Now she knows how to hold her own against vampires, were-panthers, witches and I don’t even know what else because I can’t keep track. She curses all the time and she almost never looks happy and actually… it’s a little sad.
Rachel from Glee
In the beginning of Glee, Rachel was this crazy singer who only cared about herself and being a star. She wore clothing that you would probably expect to see on a five-year-old girl and didn’t really talk about sex or anything like that. Plus, she was in love with Finn, the clean-cut captain of the football team. And then… everything changed. Rachel looks totally different now (she goes tanning, she wears a lot of makeup, she has questionable wardrobe choices) and she went from dating the stud of McKinely High to dating… a prostitute. College changes you, I guess.
Spencer from Pretty Little Liars
When Pretty Little Liars first started, Spencer was the super academic, preppy girl in the group who aced through high school like it was her job. But recently, Spencer has taken a little bit of a different path. Since learning that Toby is a member of the A-team (or is he…) and getting on Mona’s bad side, Spencer’s life has gone sort of downhill. It’s kind of like she stopped washing her hair and wearing makeup (except for that time she wore two tons of eyeliner) and started dressing differently and getting herself kicked out of academic clubs. Also, she got really mean. Oh, Spencer. Maybe now that your heart isn’t broken you’ll go back to the old you.

I actually loved Spencer’s transformation. I mean, it wasn’t for good, but thanks to it we could see what an amazing actress Troian Bellisario actually is.
Her transformation was incredible (same as everyone in that TV series, but whatever lol).
I would mention Hanna’s transformation, too, from bratty rich girl to the one of the best friends you’d ever find.
And I can’t believe you didn’t mention Brooke Davis from One Tree Hill!
I think you should choose queen insted of rache, that girl had like 7 different personalities! (sorry if my english is bad)
