Girls Posting Prom Dresses On Social Media With Threats

Fabulous hair isn’t the only trend happening this prom season. Girls are taking to social media to post pictures of their prom dresses. Oh but that’s not all! They’re also posting threats so other girls don’t steal their thunder. Like actual threats from stealing the dress and physical attacks.

Now, I get how sucky it is when someone wears the same dress as you. At my very first dance, three of us showed up in this sparkly blue number from Limited Too. Lucky for me, the other two girls had the same shoes so they were fighting with each other. I just ran off with my friends and had a great time!

At the time, we didn’t have social media to show everyone what we were wearing or threaten them if they got the same outfit. Those were the good days!

I know it’s frustrating if someone wears the same thing as you, but it is not worthy of threatening other girls even if you’re joking. And just because you posted your dress online doesn’t mean someone else didn’t get it before you!

There are a few ways to deal with someone “stealing” your dress so let’s go over those, shall we?

Nothing. Really, do nothing. How would you feel if another girl told you to change what you were wearing to prom because she was wearing the same thing?

Have a laugh. Seriously, this makes for such a good photo op! Laugh it off, take a picture together and have fun!

If you’re super upset, talk to her. When I was in high school, my friend found out another girl in our grade got the same dress as her in a different color. Well my friend decided to talk to the other girl about it, and she actually had another dress for a different occasion so she switched the two even though she absolutely didn’t have to.

What you absolutely should not do is post threatening messages online to warn other girls not to get your dress! Prom is supposed to be about having fun so focus on that instead!

What would you do if someone had the same dress as you? Would you consider getting a different dress? Have you posted your dress online so others don’t get the same one? Tell us in the comments!
