Mini-Pills are similar to combination pills, but they only contain progestin. It protects against pregnancy by thickening the lining of your cervix and thinning the lining of your uterus so sperm can’t reach the egg. Mini-Pills must be taken at exactly the same time everyday!

Mini-Pills still have side effects, but are great for women who are concerned with the side effects that come from using a pill that contains estrogen. Some side effects of Mini-Pills include acne, irregular bleeding and weight gain. I was on Mini-Pills for a while and would get my period for weeks at a time because that’s how my body reacted to the progestin. This doesn’t happen to everyone, but it’s something to keep in mind.

Mini-Pills also do not protect against STDs and you should ALWAYS use a condom!
