There are a ton of brands to choose from, but combination birth control pills contain hormones, estrogen and progestin. Combo pills are really effective and are taken around the same time every day. Taking them late decreases their effectiveness.

Combo pills can help with heavy or irregular periods, PMS and cramps, but also carry the risk of side effects like blood clots.

These pills do not protect against STDs, which means you should always use condoms even if you’re on the pill!
