Sex in public and threesomes are some of the most common sexual fantasies, but is it a good idea to make them a reality? That depends.

Sex experts say that there are four sexual fantasies that can potentially ruin your sex life and relationship–and four that can strengthen it.

Apparently sex in public, despite being illegal, is actually not bad for your relationship. Just try to keep as many items of clothing on as possible, be discreet and for the love of Pete, don’t get caught!

Role-playing is also a good one according to experts. If you can contain your giggles and really get in character, the whole cliche nurse-doctor, cop-robber, French Maid thing can work.

Experts also recommend tying one another up–as long as one of you doesn’t ditch the other while they’re bound to the bedposts and as long as you agree beforehand of what’s gonna happen once you start–and spanking, but in the naughty, not abusive sense. (You’ll know the difference really quickly.)

As for sexual fantasies that usually end badly? Threesomes are way up there. Jealousy becomes a huge factor in threesomes, especially when you’re part of a couple and it’s not just a random hookup–because most of us can’t separate sex and love, no matter how hard we try. Other issues with threesomes? Surprises once they start. If you’re brave (or foolish, depending on how you look at it) to attempt a threesome, talk it over beforehand with everyone involved!

Other sexual fantasies that fail? Sex tapes, and not just because of the inevitable horrifying leak–but also because actual sex doesn’t look like a movie. It looks messy, puts you in unflattering (but awesome) positions and gets you sweaty, which can be mortifying if you play it back later on. Sex with a stranger also usually ends up disappointing, and so does sex with someone taken–so avoid it! You deserve an awesome sex life, and cheaters don’t deserve to be part of that.
