10 Items Of Clothing And Accessories Inspired By Animated Disney Movies

At Gurl, we love Disney and we love fashion. It makes sense then that in the past we have shown you how to dress like the Disney princesses and the Disney princes. More recently, we’ve even showed you how you can dress like the Disney princesses for prom (and as someone who desperately tried and failed to find a dress like Ariel for prom, these outfits are amazing).

I love making references to movies in my clothes. Usually though, I’m less likely to dress like the characters (I’m not great at coordinating), and more likely to wear items like shirts or jewelry with with references to the movie in obscure ways, whether it be quotes or symbols. When someone recognizes them, I feel lucky to be meeting another true fan.

There is SO much stuff out there in terms of Disney, so I set out to find Disney-inspired clothes that aren’t like what you’d find at the Disney Store. People get real creative and make some really cute digs with references to some classic Disney movies. Here are ten examples of some cute Disney clothing and accessories (I want them now!).

The Little Mermaid

Yessssss. And yes, I do have dinglehoppers "But who cares? No big deal. I want moreeeeeeeeeeee...." You have to imagine me with a singing voice as good as Ariel for this to work.

Tangled

Confession: I still haven't seen Tangled. That said, I would totally wear this shirt referencing Rapunzel in her tower.

Beauty And The Beast

I consider the opening minutes of Beauty and the Beast told in stained glass one of the most beautiful movie moments ever. I love this phone case with the stained glass rose. A subtle reference to a gorgeous scene and important symbol in the movie.

Beauty And The Beast

I wasn't kidding when I said I loved that rose scene. This necklace is adorable. Want, want, want!

Beauty And The Beast

Normally I don't like clothes that just show the characters, but I feel like this sketch of Belle is very pretty and mostly recognizable because of the "Tale As Old As Time" lyric. In any case, very cute.

Beauty And The Beast

Who has not had a fantasy of belting out this song in a field whenever you are thinking about the future? Oh wait, I actually have done it. Now instead of singing it, I can just wear it as a cute bracelet.

Sleeping Beauty

I love the style of these bracelets, so I was pretty psyched that there was one with another favorite song of mine. Sleeping Beauty is my BFF's favorite Disney movie, so this would make a really fun gift for her.

Mulan

The fact that this necklace has kind of a weathered look almost reiterates the idea of something beautiful emerging during hard times. Anyway, I loved the character of Mulan, so I totally dig this necklace with this quote from the movie.

The Lion King

To be quite honest, The Lion King is not one of my favorites (I know I am very much in the minority here). However, I love a good comfy shirt and I do love the message of "Hakuna Matata," so I am all for this look.

A Bunch Of Them!

All right, maybe I'm a font nerd, but I think this design is really cool. I like this one I think more than a similar one with the princess names because some of the names are a little less familiar. Like, who is Ferdinand? Umm, the prince in Snow White, of course! I think it just takes a little more Disney fandom to appreciate.
