This weekend, I experienced something that I had long forgot existed: sun. Yes, I went outside without 18 layers and I saw a bright sky. It was crazy. For the past few months, most dates I have gone on have been of the indoor variety – restaurants, movies, sitting on my couch watching TV (what can I say? I truly am a lazy girl).
Now that’s officially spring, you may want to start taking your dates outside. But wait – want to keep the amount of planning and effort low? Of course, because nice springtime weather is supposed to be relaxing! If you want to enjoy everything an outdoor spring date has to offer without much time spent planning, prepping or putting in effort, here are ten outside spring date ideas that are some of the laziest possible ones around.
Get Moving (Without Moving)
A lot of times an outside date involves some activity, like walking in the park or playing a game. Want to make it even lazier? Just drive around in a convertible (you have one of those at your disposal, right?). You're getting all the outdoor benefits of your date while never having to move your feet. Get stuck in traffic to make the date last even longer! Source: Shutterstock.comGo On A Bike Trip
When I say go on a bike trip, I mean only go down hills where you can coast the whole way. I mean, it's already too easy to get sweaty just standing outside, so actual pedaling is out of the question if you want to stay sweat-free on your date. When you get to the bottom of the hill, you can suddenly declare the date is officially over - wait, your date didn't figure out how he was getting home like you did? It doesn't sound like your date is all that responsible... Source: Shutterstock.comControl The Rain
Spending time in the outdoors means being prepared for all of the weather elements, like rain. But wait, you want it to drizzle so you can have a romantic rain kiss? No need to wait around and schedule your date according to the Weather Channel! Just keep a bucket of water nearby that you can toss at your date, and they will probably be really moved by the " romantic weather" to kiss you. Source: Shutterstock.comDo Some Gardening
Your mom has a whole list of gardening chores to do? Well, that sounds like a recipe for a fun AND productive date! You probably should be in charge of "directing" the chores and overseeing that everything gets done to your mom's standards while your date actually does the mowing and weeding and planting. What a fun time spent outdoors - and you accomplished all your work! It's hard to believe you probably won't get any dirt on you at all. Source: Shutterstock.comBring Your Sunglasses
Realized your date is kind of boring and talks all the time? Take your date outdoors where not only will you get to enjoy the warm weather, but if you wear sunglasses, you can just totally doze off while your boring date keeps talking on and on about themselves. Sunglasses outside isn't out of the ordinary, so there's no way you'll get caught sleeping (and you can dream up a much better outside date while you nap!). Source: Shutterstock.comPick Up A Picnic
So you could pack a whole nice picnic, but that requires a lot of prep. Just grab some fast food right before you date and throw it in a basket. It's doubtful your date will know the difference. No picnic blanket? Just unfold all those complimentary napkins as needed. Perfect. Source: Shutterstock.comInvite Friends
Remember in movies like Sleeping Beauty how the characters would have a romantic moment out doors with all their little woodland friends surrounding them? Don't you want that in your outdoor date?! Easy! Just leave a bunch of picnic food lying around and you'll have so many ants in no time. Get ready for your own version of a super-romantic fairy tale moment! Source: Shutterstock.comGo Boating
A paddle boat is a fun way to take advantage of sunny spring weather without actually having to go into the cold water. All you have to do is sit there! Oh, you AND your date are supposed to pedal?! Mmm, I don't think so. Remind your date the boat is obviously powered by one person (like a regular car) and going in circles is totally normal. So relaxing for you! Okay, is it maybe not quite warm enough for you outside yet? While you hold out for summer weather, you can still basically have an outside date. Just do everything very close to a well-lit window. You may have to move your couches, television and kitchen tables in order to constantly be in the window's light, but your family should understand that it's all about achieving the ambiance of the spring date. Spring nights can still get super chilly. Tell your date you want to go stargazing, but surprise - you have no intention of leaving the house! You could go to the trouble of putting up star ornaments, but those sticky glow-in-the-dark stars you've had on your ceiling forever (and okay, are kind of falling off) should be convincing enough. To make it more authentic, you can let some mosquitoes inside. Now it's truly an outdoor evening date, and you didn't even have to go anywhere.
