10 Awesome Quotes From Baroness Margaret Thatcher

Baroness Margaret Thatcher passed away this morning after suffering a stroke. The Iron Lady took the political world by storm by becoming the only woman and longest-serving Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, as well as serving as an inspiration to women everywhere.

After two failed elections to the Labor seat in Dartford, she studied to become a lawyer. In 1959, Thatcher was elected into Parliament. She earned the title of Baroness in 1992 when she was elected into the House Of Lords.

She served in a junior office during Prime Minister Harold Macmillan’s administration from 1964-1970 where she frequently shadowed the minister. Gaining much respect in the political world, she was elected as Education Secretary during Edward Heath’s administration in 1970.

In 1975 she ran against Heath for the Leader Of The Opposition seat in the House Of Commons, which she won, making her the first woman to hold the position. Then, in 1979 she was elected as the first female Prime Minister of the UK and would go on to hold three terms.

Margaret Thatcher did something that has not been repeated since. Whether you agree with her politics or not, her career is nothing short of amazing. She proves that women can hold powerful positions and can do it well. She was an icon and an inspiration to any woman who wants to be successful.

I love how all us brits are like: “THANK GOD WE’RE RID OF THAT WITCH!” and everyone else is all: “Oh, she was such an inspirational, incredible woman!” >_<

  2. avatarEva says:

“Children who need to be taught to respect traditional moral values are being taught that they have an inalienable right to be gay.” –Margaret Thatcher

  3. avatarAriana says:

How about this quote: ““I owe nothing to women’s lib. The feminists hate me, don’t they? And I don’t blame them. For I hate feminism. It is poison.”

  4. avatarAmelia says:

It’s a sad day indeed when the “most inspiring” feminist icon was a racist, misogynist, and homophobic politician.

  5. avatarElanor says:

What about the time when she called Nelson Mandela a terrorist? What about the section 28 legislation which banned any mention of lgbt topics in schools? What about the time when she shamed single mothers? What about when she blamed poor people for everything? She may be an inspiration to Reagan-ites, but I never thought someone on this website would consider her an inspiration. The only reason I can think of for this is that all the writer knows about thatcher is that she was the first female pm. Shameful.

I know, right? She was such an awful woman, and the writer’s saying she was inspiring? I can’t believe this.
