It’s not enough to just do projects in school, but teachers are big on the class presentation. You know, having to get up in front of all your friends and now talk about all the work you’ve done. These would make me so nervous. I once started to give a class presentation and got so nervous that I stood up in front of the room and coughed for two straight minutes. It was unfortunate.
If only there was a way to make giving class presentations easy and stress-free! Well, while I can’t guarantee that these will get you an A+, I can say that these tips should make giving a class presentation totally painless. So quit prepping that project or trying to psych yourself up, and just give one of these ten tips a whirl instead.
Plan Ahead
Absolutely do NOT pull the fire alarm (so illegal), but do try to stealthily figure out from the main office the next time your school is planning a fire drill. That will just happen to be the day you volunteer to present. Look who is off the hook to present (in a totally legal way)! Source: Shutterstock.comLet The Group Carry You
Ask if you can do your class presentation in a group. Then, be that group member that never seems to care about doing any work. You know that the other members will just carry you through the assignment and take care of the presentation parts. Just relax! Source: Shutterstock.comStay Hidden
Make sure your class presentation has lots of props and posters. That way you can just hide behind them during the presentation and just imagine you're talking to yourself to help ease your nerves. If you're in a group, they may even forget that you're hiding there and you won't have to do anything. I mean, all the information is there so do teachers really care about your "presentation skills..." (well, I guess we'll see). Source: Shutterstock.comPull A Twin Switch
If you have an identical twin, make like most television twins and pull a switcheroo for the presentation. However, many of us don't have a twin, so instead start the search for your own doppelganger. Hey, many celebs have close lookalikes, so there's no reason that yours isn't out there. I think that person would be more than happy to give a class presentation! Source: Shutterstock.comLose Your Voice
Put your acting skills to work by convincing your teacher you have laryngitis. However, being the good student you are, you don't mind just handing in the project despite being very, very sick. We think she'll appreciate your effort in spite of your lost voice and just grade the written work. Class presentation avoided AND you've impressed your teacher! Okay, it's a lot to ask you to commit to going through the whole day without talking. Try this acting exercise instead. When you get up to do your presentation, pretend that you've suddenly become quite queasy. Maybe even whimper a little. Believe me, the class will not want to risk the chance that you lose your lunch up there in front of the room, and instead of presenting, you'll get to nap in the nurse's office. Don't mind doing the actual work, but just don't want to have to dress up to stand up there and present? Take a "sick" day, but show how truly committed you are by offering to video conference in your presentation (umm, can you say extra credit, much?). You can give your whole presentation while sitting on your comfy couch and with your whole script sneakily off to the side (take that, memorization!). Plus when you're done, un-mute the TV and reward yourself with a day off. Source: Shutterstock.comLip Sync To An A+
Nervous about those awkward pauses or coughs or messing up words? Just record your whole presentation ahead of time. All you have to do is just get up there and mouth the words. Lip syncing is totally acceptable for many musical artists to do when they perform, so it is definitely okay for a class presentation. As long as the words and your mouth movements kind of match up, that's all good. What's that old lip sync trick - just mouth "watermelon" over and over? Sounds simple enough! Why should you stand there and present when someone else has already made a video that supports your project? It will look like you just want to enrich your presentation with credible sources and multimedia, but really this is 30 minutes less time you need to present yourself. Plus, with a video rolling, you could even nap during your own presentation. Win! Source: Shutterstock.comGet Others Talking
Plan an informal "interactive presentation," a.k.a rely on the brains of your classmates by planning for everyone else in the class to come up with questions or write out an essay or debate your topic. Meanwhile, you just kind of sit there and let it happen, all the while looking like you've created the most engaging class presentation ever - without ever really needing to present anything.
