I’ve said it many times before, but I watch ridiculous amounts of television and movies. Pop culture really likes to explore prom and they especially like to focus on school royalty – the prom queen. So I can’t help but wonder how to be a prom queen myself.

From the looks of it though, getting voted prom queen seems like a lot of work. In order to get votes you have to campaign and make sure people are on your good side. Ugh, this sounds like a whole bunch of effort without even being able to guarantee a win.

Looking for a straightforward path right to the prom queen crown – one with no risk and minimal effort? Well, that can be arranged. Here are ten tips for all the lazy girls out there (like myself) who hope to snag that prom queen title this year.

Get On Prom Court

Prom queen is an honor, so you don't want it to just turn into a popularity contest. Join the prom planning committee to help set some guidelines as to how people should be voting for prom queen. The winner should be friendly, outgoing, hard-working at school... 5'2'', brown hair, lives on Maple Street... oh, only you fit those requirements?! Well, isn't that convenient...

Bribe Your Classmates

Nothing like good, old-fashioned bribery to get people to vote for you. Maybe you have to shell out a couple bucks or do a few extra homework assignments, but it will all be worth it once you have that crown on top of your head.

Tamper With Ballots

Seriously, how elaborate could the ballots really be? Cut out from computer paper? Just make a bunch of copies and write in your name! But guys, switch up the pens you use to write in the votes. I mean, nobody will wonder why there are 200 extra ballots if they are written in different ink.

Change The Date

Okay don't actually change the date - keep that DJ and dance hall booked. Just tell all your classmates the date changed. When you're the only one who shows up to the REAL prom, you can vote for yourself (totally allowed) and you'll win by default!

Queen By Association

Find last year's prom king and make him your boyfriend. That pretty much makes you queen by association, and honestly that probably makes your queendom way more established than whatever newbie will win this year.

Dress The Part

Even if your prom doesn't have a theme, get a little fashion inspiration from the likes of the regal ladies in your history textbook. There are many centuries of queens to choose from! In any case, your fashion will signal to everyone that you're truly a prom queen.

Do A Little Research

If you do some digging into your family history, there's a good chance there's some royal blood in there somewhere. If that's the case, you won't just be able to say that you're a queen on prom night, but you can probably justify being called a queen all the time.

Try, Try Again

Didn't get voted prom queen at your school? Keep crashing local proms until you finally win. You may even generate some news coverage! Eventually people will reward your determination (or maybe just get sick of you and let you win). Either way, prom queen!

Star In A Teen Movie

Okay, there are exceptions, but the leads in teen movies often get to live the dream of being named the prom queen. Just head out to Hollywood, get cast as the lead in an upcoming prom movie and just wait (bonus: your co-star, aka "prom date" could be a celeb!).

Steal The Crown

If all else fails, just get your hands on that crown. It may take an elaborate heist plan, but just make sure you are able to get it because the crown holds all the prom queen power. If you have it in your possession, you're the rightful queen no matter who people may have "officially" voted for. Case closed.
