Breaking news, girls, breaking news: science has finally figured out the hair color preference for men.. and you might be surprised by the answer. Despite the fact that we’ve all always heard that guys like blondes best, the opposite is true. A new study confirms that men actually favor brunettes.
Before you take this too seriously, please note that I am rolling my eyes as I write this. Why? For one thing, this study only looked at a 1,000 men out of, oh, I don’t know… millions of men in the world, maybe? For another, I can honestly say I don’t care what hair color men prefer – when it comes to my own hair, I only care about what I like.
This super scientific study (sarcasm) discovered that out of 1,000 men, 54 percent would choose a brunette to be their wife. Only 16 percent would go for blonde hair and 30 percent really don’t care either way. The study also found that guys think women with darker hair are more deep and “more sensible” than blondes. They also believe that brunettes take better care of their appearance, make better cooks, are better at cleaning, are willing to try more stuff when it comes to sex and are better with money.
Ugh. Honestly, I hate this study. Like I said before, this isn’t a large enough study to determine what all dudes like. This basically just means that about 600 guys in the world like dark hair over light hair, so I’d hardly take this seriously.
I also really don’t understand this. What does hair color have to do with what you like in bed or how you cook? Oh, right… nothing. It has nothing to do with that stuff. Being a brunette doesn’t mean you’re going to be a better wife, whatever that means, and that’s what this study insinuates. Or that’s what this study makes you feel like men think.
Also? You should never pick out your hair color based on what other people like. Your hair is your hair and you should do what you want with it regardless of how other people feel. Like I said, I don’t care what color hair guys prefer – I dye my hair dark brown instead of keeping it at it’s natural dark blonde color because I like my hair better brown. There’s no other reason.
When it comes down to it, I just think this study is really silly. I mean, why was this done in the first place? I guess for general interest, but I still think hair color preference is really, really subjective. Like I said, the color of your hair doesn’t change your personality. If a guy likes you, he should like you for you, not for your hair color. So are you telling me that these dudes who say they prefer brunettes would turn down a blonde if she possessed every other quality they wanted in a woman? I don’t think so.
Basically, don’t take stuff like this seriously. You can’t survey 1,000 guys and then make the assumption that all guys like brunettes better than blondes. You just can’t!

black is the most perfect and beautiful color, it hasnt got any other colors in it it just keeps the face symmetrical!
I don’t think this is really accurate, and I do agree that it shouldn’t matter what color your hair is. But I do think that a blonde obviously wrote this article. It took on an air of hostility about halfway through, haha. This is just something else for girls to get insecure about..
Honestly, these hair color stereotypes can get really annoying. I’m a natural blonde, and I’ve never changed my hair color. I’m bilingual (english and spanish) and am learning Arabic. I also tutor geometry, trigonometry, english, and spanish. I am well versed in history, mythology, and classic literature. I am the only captain of my school’s “It’s Academic!” (essentially quiz bowl) team who served as captain for two years, since I’m the only captain ever from our school who became captain before their senior year. Every college I applied to accepted me, including the #1 in my major of criminology, University of Maryland: College Park. I actively participate in theatre, photography, and ballroom dancing. Can we stop with that dump blonde stereotype that pop culture perpetuates? You can not imagine how many people comment on my being a “smart blonde.” We exist. Get over it.
