Set time limits
I would also get really caught up and spend hours pretending to clean. My mom would get so mad at me for taking like three hours to go through the bathroom cabinets.
Give yourself a time limit for each section. If you finish within your time limit or before, take a break to distract yourself for a bit before starting on the next one.

We always do our big yearly cleaning session before Chinese New Year’s–so the house is clean by February at the latest! (For the record, I hate spring cleaning)
