Let’s be honest: When picking out a Facebook profile picture, chances are you’re looking for the one that will get the most “likes,” the most comments and the most positive attention . . . especially from cute guys, right?

It turns out, what you wear in your Facebook profile picture can really affect how or whether a guy will notice you, and it’s not a matter of how much cleavage, skin or curves you show off. The colors in your photo play a big role!

Want proof? A study was done in France: 64 women digitally altered the color of their shirts in their profile pictures, making it red, blue, green, yellow, black and white, for a full year. They alternated the profile pictures every two weeks, and 21 percent of all the messages these gals got all year came when their shirts were red. Every other color only got between 14 and 16 percent each.

Another study done in New York showed that guys are more likely to ask a girl out–and even spend more money on her–when she wears red in her profile picture.

The lesson here? And anthropologists confirmed it–red makes you more attractive. It goes back to this biological link in evolution: we flush red when we’re attracted to someone, when we’re ovulating–basically when we’re ready to mate. So if you’re looking for, uh, a mate, wearing red is more likely to make him stop in his tracks and take in your hotness. That and it just looks good on everyone!
