Axe is a life ruiner. It ruins people’s lives. Mainly mine. But also this kid who was hospitalized because of a serious allergic reaction. Fortunately, he’s okay now! The school is asking students to not wear Axe at school.

I am 1000% behind this because when I think about the ten worst products in existence, Axe tops the list. Let me tell you why.

So my family owns a major lacrosse company in the South. We have several select travel teams, and my summer job was always to be a miniature version of my mother, who’s the director. I did all sorts of things from paperwork to managing sidelines. And dealing with teenage boys. As an adult.

We traveled to various cities and rarely had serious issues at the hotels. Except this one time involving Axe. I was good friends with all of the coaches, so we’d always hang out after doing room checks. These teen lax bros were supposed to be in their own rooms asleep by 11, but naturally, they didn’t want to listen.

We heard some commotion down the hall and decided to go check it out. Apparently, one room full of rambunctious players snuck out of their room to hang out in another. And they were making Axe bombs. Well, they set off the fire alarm.

We walked in to find these guys holding pillows over the sprinklers on the ceiling and panicking, saying “Please don’t tell Coach!” Coach is my dad. Of course I wasn’t going to say anything, but I wanted them to squirm a little because they were ruining my night of sleeping.

One of the coaches went to the lobby to see if the manager could turn the alarm off, but the guy was new and didn’t have authority to do that. The alarm was going off for so long that the fire department nearly showed up.

We eventually got the situation under control, but it was a total disaster. I got approximately an hour of sleep that night and couldn’t get the scent of Axe Broken Teenage Dreams out of my nose for days.
