Are you already getting ready for prom? In those weeks leading up to the dance, there can sometimes be a lot of chatter about who is going with who and how they got asked. At my school though, things were pretty low-key in terms of prom asking. My friend asked me while I was digging my sweaty lacrosse gear out of my car.
That said, some of my friends in college had these awesome stories about how prom asking was an elaborate art at their school. Well, I felt like I missed out by never seeing these asks happen in person! Luckily, the magic of the Internet has now made people’s well-planned prom asks available for everyone to see.
So whether you are planning to ask someone and need inspiration, want to bring back your own memories of getting a memorable prom ask, or you’re just like me and love when people are adorable, enjoy these ten awesome “promposals” (unfortunately I didn’t come up with that term, but I so wish I did):
The Serenade: Solo
While a serenade in the middle of class could be awkward, it just seems like everyone is having a blast with this. Props on the original lyrics, too!
The Serenade: Group Style
While this probably doesn’t follow the normal rules of the library, it doesn’t seem that anyone mind the interruption for a cute prom ask.
Taylor Swift Style
What do you get when you take one of Taylor’s catchy songs and add a flashmob? An adorable promposal! Taylor, please write a song about this moment!
Flashmob Again!
Quick back story: the girl’s name in the video is Valeria, so the flashmob is to Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie.” In my prom date’s defense, I don’t think there are a lot of “Meghan” songs, so he’s off the hook.
Locker Surprise
I am so impressed with the strategic planning that had to go into this prom asking (although I’m going to imagine there are still a few rogue ping pong balls in the schools hallway).
Balloon Mania
In addition to the planning that went into this balloon promposal, I’m also super impressed with the filmmaking quality. Don’t you feel like you’re watching a short film?!
Justin Bieber Style
Okay, so maybe the real Bieber didn’t show up. But they really committed to Bieber’s signature style and dance moves.
Paparazzi Style
It turns out not just to be another walk down the school hallway. This girl really gets the celebrity treatment during her prom ask with people following her around with cameras.
The Loudspeaker Ask
It’s sort of like when someone sends a message at a sports game via jumbotron, but with even more of a personal spin (and it’s also probably more realistic at a high school field). Plus, who doesn’t want to be told how awesome they are whether you’re going to a school dance or not?!
Starbucks Style
Nothing like getting a grande frappecino and a prom invitation all in one convenient drive-thru trip.
Which of these videos was your favorite? Have you ever been asked to prom in a unique way? Would you ever plan a “promposal” to ask someone to prom? Tell me in the comments!
