Selena Gomez is rumored to be totally over Justin Bieber, who was younger than her, and is now looking at dating older guys. One of Sel’s pals said, “Selena is looking to date an older man this time. She finally realized how toxic it was to date a toddler like Justin.”
Selena’s reportedly looking for someone more mature, but we have a warning: dating older guys doesn’t mean dating more mature guys!
Of course, it depends on how much older the guys are. Selena’s 20 now, and the age gap does tend to close as you get older. But if you’re in your teens and thinking of dating older guys, you may want to reconsider. If your idea of dating older guys is dating a senior when you’re a sophomore, that’s a lot different than dating a college sophomore when you’re in eighth grade.
Dating older guys seems exciting and cool–you figure they’re more worldly and responsible, and they can usually drive, which makes things easier (no awkwardly waiting for your mom to drive away before you kiss your dude hello at the movies!)
But here’s the thing: If a guy is a lot older, chances are he’s actually immature. Not sure why? Let me explain.
Back in the day, my best friend was into dating older guys–like, way older. When we were 14, 15, 16 and 17 she dated guys who were 22, 23, 24 and 25, and it never, ever worked out. Not only was it inherently creepy–and depending on where you live, illegal–but these guys were all just idiots. I’d be around them a lot since she’d lie to her parents and say she was hanging out with me when she was going out with them–and technically it’d be true, since she’d drag me along and try setting me up with their equally lame friends.
Without fail, they’d always be impossible to have a normal conversation with (in part because their lives are so different at that age), they’d push her (and often their pals would push me) to go far physically, they wouldn’t have normal or steady jobs and they’d move along really quickly if they didn’t get what they were after–or right after they got it.
The fact is, if you’re dating older guys that are way older to the point that you’d be nervous to introduce them to your dad, chances are they’re going to be the same way. These guys prey on younger girls because they’re too immature for girls and women their own age. I promise–dating older guys probably isn’t as rewarding as giving that guy in your geometry class a shot.

You are basing this all on your own bad experience, that’s what’s wrong with this article. As for myself, it just matters that his maturity is on par with my own, whether that means he’s my age, older, or even younger. Relationships WILL FAIL if you expect a guy to be “more mature” just because he’s older. That’s on you. Dating older guys is not a bad thing.
Guys will take advantage of girls who are stupid.
Those girls may be OLDER AND STUPID or MUCH YOUNGER AND STUPID
The common denominator being, they are STUPID.
There is nothing wrong with dating an older guy. Older guys are mature, caring, responsible, experienced and are more aware of other things that make them more sensitive and understanding of our needs. I am speaking from having had first hand experience.
As other girls have mentioned there are more problems with guys our own age and they are right, more girls get pregnant from sex with guys their own age who dont understand responsible behaviour.
Stop this campaign against older guys or for that matter age differences in relationships. Let love happen the way it happens. Stop interfering and altering behaviour. Society has confused us enough.
No way. Age SHOULD NOT matter. There are bad guys in every age group. It is so stupid to think and make others believe that just because a guy is older he is bad. My friends have had so many bad experiences with boys their own age. Some of them are pregnant too from sex with guys their own age. What is important is MATURITY not AGE.

Dont believe a word of this article. This is total bulshit and a brainwashing strategy. There are bad experiences in all relationships. It isnt just because the guy is a lot older. This is soo immature, petty and childish. The woman/ girl writing this article sounds like a big loser. STOP THIS BRAINWASHING. Illegal or not, if love exists in a relationship, thts all that matters. Not age, not morals, not religion and in fact the law is irrelevant!! Havent you seen girls having bad bad experiences with guys their own age? There are more of those and more teen girls going through pregnancy because of those younger guys who you approve of. Get real you fool.
Your own bad experiences with older guys must have happened because of your mind set. They must have found you to be an idiot and hence thought they would make the best of the situation.
Personally I prefer guys the same age as me.
