“Keep Calm And Rape On” Shirts Taken Off Of Amazon!

These “Keep Calm And Rape On” and “Keep Calm And Rape Us” shirts were removed from Amazon! | Source: Amazon.co.uk

There was a ton of outrage when shirts were sold on Amazon with sayings like “Keep Calm And Rape On,” “Keep Calm And Rape It” and “Keep Calm And Rape Us” by one of their vendors. In fact, no one would keep calm, but everyone could carry on about them.

The manufacturer of the “Keep Calm And Rape” shirts was in a tizzy over the whole thing, apologizing left and right and explaining that their Amazon customers input the text and it was pretty much created automatically at that point. I believe them, because, well, who would voluntarily sell these?

Listen. I’ve got a pretty good sense of humor (I’m a comic–it’s sort of a job requirement), and I’ve even heard rape jokes that were actually poignant and funny. These shirts just, well, aren’t, and that’s where the problem lies: there’s nothing clever, amusing or even really shocking about these shirts. What’s most offensive is just how lame and unfunny they are. Like bros, this is the best you could do?

My take?

Amazon should keep selling the “Keep Calm And Rape” shirts, that way we can more easily spot sociopaths and douchebags based on who’s wearing, buying and owning these. Because believe us, those are the only people PayPal-ing for this nonsense.

Just think about it: Wouldn’t it be easier to keep calm if you had a better idea of who exactly was most likely to rape you? Just a quick glance at his “Keep Calm And Rape It” shirt and I’d be like, “Oh. I should probably cross the street and grab my pepper spray, and maybe start to run.” When a guy wearing a “Keep Calm And Rape Us” shirt eventually goes to prison for sexual assault and karma comes to get him there, I’d be like, “Oh, I saw that coming. He totally asked for it.” We could start rapist profiling! Like racial profiling, only not racist or discriminatory. Just, you know, brilliant.

In the meantime, unless and until Amazon starts selling these rape shirts again, I’m going to just keep calm and roll my eyes . . . and keep them peeled when I’m walking to my car alone at night.

Do you think Amazon should sell “Keep Calm And Rape On” shirts? Do you think the “Keep Calm And Rape On” shirts were a big deal? Would you ever talk to a guy who had a “Keep Calm And Rape On” shirt? Was Amazon right to pull the “Keep Calm And Rape On” shirts? Do you think the “Keep Calm And Rape On” shirts were funny? Tell us in the comments!

I know hat you guys are working with sourcefed!!!!!
Anyways, if you watch the vid by sourcefed, apparently the company that sold the shirts had a program that made them and put them on amazon automatically. The company apologized later too if I remember corectly

This shirts are weird. But I agree. Douchey shirts are an excellent way of pointing out the weirdos. I know this guy who wears shirts saying ‘Screw me if I’m wrong but have we met before’ and my personal favourite, ‘They call it PMS because mad cow disease was already taken’. He doesn’t have much of a love life anymore.

I kinda get where you’re coming from :P
But what about people who have actually suffered from rape, this might be really upsetting for someone who has in fact been raped before. I thankfully have never been in that situation but if a had been through something like that, I would want people wearing something that would remind of that or even make a joke at that. It’s only my opinion and like I say, I’ve never been in the situation, but it just seems a little wrong to me.
