Quick confession time: when I was in high school, I had a pretty big crush on one of my teachers. He was very young, very cute and very friendly. He was in charge of supervising my lunch period and my friends and I sat with him and two other teachers every day. We all talked, laughed, bought each other snacks – we considered them our friends. I, of course, considered Mr. R to be my imaginary boyfriend. Nothing ever came close to happening between us except for the fact that I was crushing hard.
I’m sure you can name a teacher you think is a total cutie as well. Having a teacher crush is super common. After all, you spend every day with them… and if the teacher in question is cute, funny and wonderful, how are you supposed to not have a crush?!
But here’s the thing: having a teacher crush can also be pretty dangerous. Hey, we can’t all be as lucky as Aria from Pretty Little Liars and snag hot teachers like Mr. Fitz like it’s no biggie. It’s totally fine to crush on your teacher, but acting on that crush? Not totally fine. I know how hard it can be to restrain yourself, so I’m here to help. Here are a few ways to deal with having a crush on your teacher:
Accept It
So, you have a crush on a teacher - acknowledge it, accept it, embrace it. Crushes happen and they can happen on anyone, from someone your age to your cute doctor to your fave celebrity. While it's completely fine to crush on your teacher, things will get tricky if you start to think something could really happen. It's important to be realistic here. Remember that doing anything inappropriate with your teacher can get him in serious trouble. He could lose his job and even possibly get arrested. Keeping all of that in mind, don't start flirting with your teacher. I know that a few comments here and there may seem innocent and harmless, but if another teacher or student catches on, it won't seem so innocent. As tempting as it may be to ask for some one-on-one extra help time to get closer to your teacher with no one else around, don't do it... especially if he gets a little flirty with you sometimes. Like I said before, be realistic. Don't let this crush consume you and don't let it be super obvious, because you don't want to encourage anything inappropriate. It's fine to daydream about your teacher sometimes, but if it gets to a point where you feel like you're seriously falling for him, you need to put an end to the crush ASAP. So I have a crush on my teacher who is only 9 years older than me. I HATE that I like him, before I see him I always pep talk myself like “nothing is gonna happen” but then he smiles at me and my toughness disappears and I get so mad at myself!!! Ugh
