Gamer girls are stoked today–the new PlayStation 4 is finally on the way!

How is PlayStation 4 different from PS2 or PS3? For one, it’s mostly cloud based–think of how you can stream Netflix movies to your TV. You’ll be able to do the same with PlayStation 4 games. No more worrying about scratching discs, misplacing them in the wrong cases or lending them to pals and never seeing them again! (Don’t worry, though, gamer girls–it’s still going to have a Blu-ray drive!)

Another difference? The graphics are nuts. You can actually see fibers in upholstery of seats in car racing games. My eyesight is so crappy I can hardly see that in real life, so you can imagine how insane that is.

The PlayStation DualShock 4 controller is pretty similar to classic PlayStation controllers, but these have more fancy features. Each has a light up bar in a different color–which will come in handy if your wires get tangled in a heated game of Mortal Kombat–and there’s even a button on the controller just to share your level up or victory on social media. The DualShock 4 controller will also have sensors that work similarly to the ones in XBox Kinect.

Speaking of social media, PlayStation 4 will have features similar to XBox Live so you can interact with other players. Hopefully, though, gamer girls won’t face the same insane nonsense they’re dealing with already–or at least not as much as before.

The only thing that’s not too cool about this announcement? Sony didn’t release a picture of the actual console. Uh, what’s up with that? We’re all dying to see it, but I guess we’ll just have to wait with everyone else. Sad face.

It’s not clear how much the PlayStation 4 is going to cost, but if you’re lucky, it may not cost you anything–it’s coming out in time for the holidays this year. Put it on your wishlist and be good!
