Having a spa day is one of the best luxuries ever, but it’s so expensive and who really has the time? I’ve always been one to experiment with at-home skin treatments because one, I think it’s really fun and two, there are so many things you can use from your kitchen.
Sometimes natural products are the best fix-its for breakouts, dry skin or other issues. You’d be surprised what you can do with an avocado.
I’m going to tell you though! Click through below for my favorite DIY face masks:
Avocado & Olive Oil
I'm sure there are recipes with more components, but this was a self-made discovery. The winter has really dried me out this year and knowing the hydrating properties of these two ingredients, I mixed em together to see what would happen.
Mash up half of an avocado, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse off and moisturize!
Banana & Egg Yolk
This is a great hydration mask as well. Egg yolks are packed with protein and bananas reduce inflammation.
Mix 1/2 a banana with 1/2 egg yolk, leave on for 15 minutes.
Honey & Egg
Honey is known to reduce redness so it can be used as a mask by itself. I like to combine it with an egg though to fight blemishes.
Mix 1 whole egg with 2 tablespoons honey. Leave on for 15-20 minutes and rinse with warm water.
Lemon & Honey
This mask is perfect for reducing redness and inflammation if you have some pesky spots.
Mix 1/2 lemon with 2 teaspoons of honey, let sit for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
Mixed Berries & Yogurt
Berries are packed with anti-oxidants which work wonders for your skin. This mask calls for berries, honey, yogurt and a little lemon juice to leave your skin super soft and bright.
In a blender combine berries, 2 tablespoons yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Apply to face and leave on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
Strawberries & Baking Soda
Another at-home experiment that really worked: strawberries mixed with baking soda. This is an exfoliating mask that scrubs and fights redness. I use baking soda as a treatment for dark spots, but I combined it with strawberries to exfoliate as well.
Mash up 2 strawberries, combine with 1 tablespoon of baking soda and apply to face. Leave on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
Have you ever made your own face mask at home? What did you use? Tell me in the comments!
