Other then the fact that snow is awesome, I think winter is kind of the worst. It’s easy to get gloomy, bored and sad when the weather is so dreary and cold and everything outside is gray. How are you supposed to beat the winter blues without a little of bit of warm sunshine?
Um, by having a ’90s dance party, that’s how! Obviously. Dance parties are only one of the most fun ways to get in a better mood and a ’90s version is even better. We’ve done the work for you and put together a perfect playlist of ’90s dance songs. Now all you have to do is invite your besties over and clear the floor of your bedroom. Listening to these super catchy, old-school dance tunes will have your cheered up in no time:
“Barbie Girl” by Aqua
This song was basically my ultimate jam. My best friend and I listened to it over and over again until my mom threatened to throw out the CD. It’s pretty amazing.
“The Sign” by Ace of Base
I can’t even handle this video. Also, at one point, this song brought me right back to the ’90s. Now, it only brings me to Pitch Perfect. I’m not complaining.
“Jump” by Kriss Kross
I believe I have already professed my love for Kriss Kross, but it’s worth it to add this song to this list. Also, my new favorite “Jump” memory is watching Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake sing and dance to it in Friends With Benefits. If that doesn’t make you want to dance, I don’t know what will.
“Good Vibrations” by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch
Listen Mark Wahlberg, you’re cool now and all, but… you were so much cooler as Marky Mark. Like, SO much cooler.
“Livin’ La Vida Loca” by Ricky Martin
I just feel like this will always be one of those ultimate dance songs that comes on at a party and everyone is like, “OMG, remember when we genuinely loved this?” but secretly everyone still genuinely loves it.
“Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” by C+C Music Factory
Obey the song. You can’t NOT dance to this. It’s impossible. Oh man… this was the soundtrack to so many things.
“Wannabe” by Spice Girls
I mean, obviously. You can’t have a ’90s dance list without including the Spice Girls. This song is EPIC.
“Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” by Will Smith
Does anyone else miss this version of Will Smith?! My brother and I had many ridiculous and impromptu dance parties to this song. How could you not?
“Groove Is in the Heart” by Deee-Lite
This song is kind of trippy when you really think about it. But it’s so good! Total ’90s classic.
“All Star” by Smash Mouth
When I was younger, I knew every single word to this song and could sing it straight through at any moment of the day, even when it wasn’t playing. For some reason, I was extremely proud of this.
“What Is Love” by Haddaway
This was my high school boyfriend’s favorite song (don’t ask), so yeah, I’m kind of an expert on it, guys. Trust me. Dance to it.
“Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot
What else is there to say about this song? It kind of made me really proud to have a big butt. Anyone else?
“Whoomp! (There It Is)” by Tag Team
OMG this song is just too ’90s for words. Party on, party people. Party on.
“I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred
For some weird reason, I used to be really scandalized by this song. I don’t know why. It’s ridiculous! But also a serious classic.
“Tubthumping” by Chumbawamba
My best friend got me into this song because she was all like, “Jessica, get over BSB and get into this super cool adult music.” And I did… sort of. Not really. What?! You can like both!
“Who Let the Dogs Out” by Baha Men
I can’t even with this song. It’s insane… but it’s also perfect. Where would music be without it?
“Ooh Aah . . . Just a Little Bit” by Gina G
This is SUCH a good dance song! Seriously. I’m dancing to it as I’m writing about it and I can’t stop.
“Jump Around” by House of Pain
Okay, so you don’t really dance to this… you jump to it. Obviously. Right?
