Jennifer is a cool and hilarious individual – words that also describe Ruby Oliver, the main character of the The Boyfriend List. While Jennifer always seems super cool with doing her own thing, Ruby is more working her way to that point. After Ruby’s boyfriend dumps her to date her BFF, she finds herself as sort of an outcast in her school. With the help of her therapist, she starts examining her relationships with boys of her past, and with her friends of the present. The book is packed with pop-culture references and laugh-out-loud moments (like many of JL’s interviews), but it’s also really relatable as one girl navigates parts of high school that can be really hard and stressful, while trying to figure herself out in the process.
