There has been quite a bit of celebrity news recently, especially since the Golden Globes were Sunday. When it comes to celebrities, many times people have differing opinions. We had a number of celebrity discussions this week, with some of you voicing critiques of things we wrote, as well as some debate among you all in the comments.
In all these cases, I felt like your comments made me really think about what it would mean to be a celebrity – the “pro” of being able to be a role model and have people see my work, and the big “con” of having people watching my whole life right before their eyes. Living in the public eye must be more complicated than we can imagine, but celebrities are in a position that allows them to really influence and impact our culture, so it makes sense that they do often become a talking point among people – our site included.
As your comments demonstrated this week, discussion about celebrities can go in many directions. For this week’s round-up, we wanted to highlight four themes that came up in some celebrity-based stories:
Sometimes you share with us why you admire or respect certain celebrities…
…and other times you ask us to think about what it could be like to be in their shoes.
Sometimes you voice your support for a celebrity’s decisions or actions…
…and other times you question how they act.
Do you talk about celebrities often with your friends? What do you think is the best part of being a celebrity? What about the worst part? Tell us in the comments!
