I’m absolutely obsessed with doing my nails. Going to a school where I had to wear a uniform, painting my nails in fun colors became one of my favorite ways to express myself. Not to brag, but I’ve amassed quite a fun collection of nail polish brands (FYI, I basically own the whole Hunger Games collection from China Glaze).
I tend to stick with solid colors, but lately I’ve been thinking that I want to try my hand at some nail art. There are so many cool nail DIYs that I want to try! I’ve found ten tutorials that I think look really fun AND that I think I’d be able to do, so I wanted to share them with you!
So if you’re hanging out tonight watching the Golden Globes and want to get your own glam on, why not try one of these fun manicure treats?
I never would have thought to use a makeup sponge, but this makes it look totally doable. Love the look, especially with the fun polka dots! If you don’t have a dotting tool, The Daily Varnish has these two ideas for ways to make one with stuff you may have at home.
Polka Dots and Stripes Nails
Heads up: The video is four minutes, but the tutorial actually isn’t that long. I love this because you can easily hide any mistakes that might happen when trying to do the straight lines with the polka dots. The end result still looks fun and has kind of a retro vibe!
Spilled Paint Nails
Doing nail art is pretty creative itself, but if you have a passion for all things artsy, this paint spilling nail art idea seems like a super cute way to show off that part of your personality. You can really mix it up with the colors you choose, too!
Could we really do something DIY without including our girl Jamie from Do It, Gurl? Of course not, especially when she has such amazing ideas like this marble manicure. So cute!
Okay so I’ve known for a while what a French manicure is, but that doesn’t mean I’ve ever attempted to do one. This video makes it seem like something I can totally handle. I can’t wait to rock that classic look!
This glitzy idea is beyond perfect if you want your long nails to be totally snazzy for a fun night out. She makes it look totally easy! I usually keep my nails pretty short, but I’m thinking I may need to grow them out just to give this a whirl.
Okay, real cupcakes are amazing, and having them painted on your nails would literally be sweet surprise every time you glanced at your hands. While I’d be open to trying out nail art with other food products as well, a cupcake just seems so perfect and fun for a manicure.
Spun Sugar Nails
I have to say, these might be the first that I try to do myself. It’s such a fun idea that can even give your nails some whimsical texture. It looks like something that I can definitely handle, too.
I am totally on board with any nail project where I don’t have to be totally neat. I love the finished look of these nails, and since they’re this splatter style, there’s really no way to do it wrong!
Valentine’s Day is next month, so maybe you’re already thinking about a fun way to celebrate the holiday. I usually just always paint my nails pink or red, but I thought this idea was such a clever twist on the holiday’s usual heart theme. Funny, right?
Do you often do your nails? What are some nail art manicures that you’ve tried? Would you try any of these DIY nail art ideas? Tell me in the comments!
