by Melanie AbrahamsHoly. Moly. Okay, guys–confession.
I don’t have an Instagram account. I’ve really thought about getting one, since all the cool kids are doing it (and have been for a while now), but I honestly haven’t bothered to set aside the time to do it. With today’s news, I’m
really glad I’m not an Instagram user. Apparently,
the company has stated that
it’s their right to sell any of their users’ pictures without their permission and without paying them. So, they could sell
your personal pictures (you know, the ones only intended for your friends and family to see) to big companies who could use them in print ads, TV ads, really anything–and you’d
never see a dime of compensation.
If you’re not okay with this (and you’d have to be pretty insane to be), the only thing you can do is to delete your Instagram account before January when all this crap goes into effect. If you don’t know how to delete your account, here’s a handy guide.
Since Instagram is owned by Facebook, it makes me wonder how soon all of our Facebook pictures could be sold in the same way. Creepy stuff.
What do you think? Do you have an Instagram account? Do you think this new policy is okay, or really not okay? Tell us in the comments!

It is not ok. I would rather pay for a service than have my life sold for use as commercials. Account has been deleted. All info has been removed from Facebook and that account may also be deleted.
Remember the days when you actually sat and looked at someone’s pictures and heard them tell the stories of them. Instant life is not so gratifying.
And no….you may not sell this post to advertisers lol
