If Apple Is Going To Release An iPad Mini, I Want One

It feels like just yesterday that Apple announced the release of the iPhone 5. At the same time, it also feels like it was five years that I pre-ordered my very own iPhone 5, since I still haven’t received it. Sigh. Luckily for Apple, their delay in sending out the newest iPhone has not made me any less intrigued about the brand new iPad mini they’re about to announce. Because as much as I’d like to turn my back on Apple and their crazy waiting lists for new products and their extremely long lines in every one of their stores (I mean, I’m literally in there for over an hour no matter what I’m doing), I can’t. I want that new iPad, and I want it now.

Tomorrow, October 23, Apple will be having another big media event. Although they haven’t confirmed that this event will be to launch their shiny new iPad mini, everyone (and by everyone I mean the Internet) is pretty confident that’s exactly what they’ll be doing. I haven’t seen any pictures of this supposed iPad mini and I don’t know any of the details yet, but that doesn’t matter. It’s already cool.

Do I need an iPad mini? No, no I don’t. Do I need a regular iPad? Nope. I’ve got a MacBook that’s treated like a queen on my bed, I’ve got an iPhone that literally never leaves my sight right next to me, and I’ve got a tiny little iPod at home that holds the music that doesn’t fit on my iPhone. So, do I really need to spend hundreds of dollars on yet another Apple tech accessory? No, but honestly, I probably will. Does anyone? No, but they probably will.

So what’s going on with this iPad mini? Well, according to speculation on the Internet, it’s going to be really similar to the iPad that’s out now, except it’s going to be about 7.8 inches. It’s also going to be less powerful than the regular iPad, and (this is big) less expensive. It will most likely have a price point of about $250, which is a lot cheaper than the current $500 iPad. It looks like Apple is trying to compete more with devices like the Nook and Kindle, which are about the same low price as this new iPad might be.

The major differences? Um, I don’t really know yet. Along with everyone else, I’ll find out more tomorrow during Apple’s media event. But it’s most likely just going to be that this new iPad will just be a shrunken version of the current iPad. It might have a different display and it might even be called an iPad mini (again, these are all speculations), but it will still be seriously cool.

So, should you rush to pre-order one for yourself? Um, if the price is really only around $250, then yes, I think you should. I know I will be.

Do you want an iPad for yourself? Would you order an iPad mini? Do you have an iPad already? What do you think about Apple products? Tell me in the comments!

    That’s an iPod touch. Seriously.

I would want an iPad Mini so I can play games and vids to pass time (like waiting at the airport). But, I definitely don’t need one since I already have my laptop to plays games, chat, store photos, etc.
I don’t own an iPad either but I tried it before. It’s pretty cool, but I’d rather use my laptop for convenient accessibility and to type reports faster. I’m neutral on Apple products; my buying decisions depend on whatever grants good reviews and has an affordable price.
