What can I do to be more into sex? My boyfriend is in the mood more often than I am.
Great question. Being in the mood for sex can be a tricky thing for gals and is often way more complicated than it is for guys. So, you’re not alone when it comes to being a girl whose boyfriend is in the mood more often than she is
The area of the brain that is in charge of sex and sex drive is two and a half times larger in guys than it is in girls. With so much more space devoted to sex, no wonder they’re thinking about it more. Also, the hormone testosterone which feeds our sex drive is found in much higher quantities in guys’ bodies than in a woman’s. These two facts in and of themselves give guys a bit of an advantage when it comes to their overall appetite for sex.
I’m sorry to say that there’s no magic pill you can take to get you in the mood. But, that doesn’t mean there’s absolutely nothing you can do to help increase your sex drive or libido.
A girl’s interest in sex often depends on having certain things lined up just right so that she can relax into the experience. This includes having an effective birth control method and a condom, feeling emotionally connected to the person they’re planning on having sex with, not being stoned or drunk, and feeling safe and relaxed about the place they’re planning on having sex. There’s nothing like being scared that you’ll be “caught in the act” to turn a girl right off. So try getting these factors lined up just right (Especially the condom! No negotiations there!) and see if that makes you feel a little more ready for sex.
Last but definitely not least, sometimes you’re not in the mood because you don’t want to have sex with the dude you’re with…or even at all. And that’s totally fine! If it’s not that you’re not in the mood, it’s that you plain old don’t want to have sex, be true to yourself. Saying “yes” to something you really don’t want isn’t being honest to your partner or, way more importantly, kind to yourself. And you deserve to be treated kindly, especially by yourself.
